Hi guys,
Is there anyway of targeting the ads better ??

I have a adsense site on hair Straighteners, On the home page it has great ads from top brands no problem.

But i`ve created inner pages on a certain brands `Hai Straighteners`and a couple of other brands but the ads show for `babyliss Straighteners` `travel Straighteners` and afew others.

If i`ve created a inner page for a certain brand i really need the ads to be for that brand its no good people finding my site looking for Hai Straighteners and seeing only `babyliss, philips, travel` Straighteners !! And i cannot filter them out because they work for the homepage ?

When i type hai Straighteners into google it has plenty of hai adds on the right so why am i not getting more targeted ads any advise ??

Cheers Jim

  • You can use the competitive ad filter to remove unwanted adverts.
    Log in to your adsense account, click adsense setup, click Competitive Ad Filter, enter the ad URLS in the box below.

    To get the URLS of the ads, use the adsense preview tool

    Here's the link to download the tool complete with instructions on how to use it.

  • You can use these tags:-

    PHP Code:
    <!-- google_ad_section_start -->

    <!--
    google_ad_section_end -->
    and wrap them around your most important content , ie the content you want them to match ads against.

    the google article:-

  • Has anyone had any luck with "section targeting"? I have tried using the tags, but they did not help with having G show more relevant ads.

    • Yes - wouldn't suggest it if I hadn't used it.

      You have to read the instructions - and follow the steps rather than just stick the target script in.

      It can take a few days for the targeting to catch on - but it does work. I don't have targeting problems on html sites but I did have target trouble with blogs and that's where I used it in the past.
