Links in to a site - why don't they show

I Have been doing some promotion for a client's site. I just searched on Yahoo for links:www. clientsite. com.
It shows 5 incoming links. But...... I've used Big Mike's directory bot and social bot on it. I also manually added it to some of the main social bookmarking sites as well as manually adding it to local directories and adding links from some of my own sites, etc. This has been over a period of about three weeks.
Why do none of these links show? Am I wasting my time?
