I did not quite understand the question, but you should link out to other sites from your own site and get links from other sites to yours. Both are important.

You would be forming reciprocal links by returning the link. Dont do it, go for one way links only, UNLESS the reciprocal link would send you decent amounts of traffic.

As others have said, one way links are far better. Only return a link if it is a really good site that is worthwhile to your visitors.

That said reciprocal links are not all bad, just try and do them with industry related sites.

        thanks guys.

If both of my sites are in the same niche is it beneficial to do reciprocal links?

Thanks forgot what the phrase was for returning links

This is more for SEO back links than for traffic delivery.

as the sites won't be transfer that much traffic in the short term.

        thanks

I use neurolinker to exchange links, cheap and work well for me. Reciprocal links are bad when you trigger the "spam filter" in Google..

If you exchange link too fast, Google will think you are trying to spam them. However, if you only exchange 10 links per day, and consistently, it is fine, that's why neurolinker still work, but very slow...

Try profile link - Angela and Paul backlinks, Terry Kyle, Steve's Backlink Goldmine and Mine NLB3, all work very well!

The best thing to do is to get one way links. Avoid reciprocal links.
