Hi, I have just setup a new blog, however I do need to have some private pages available accessible from a link on the home page. Work From Home Opportunities

I do not need the pages to be private apart from the fact that it overcrowds the the link tab area, at the top of the page, its OK in the sidebar.

Do you think having these pages setupo as private would affect the SEO of the site?

Best regards

If it's private only you can see them when logged in. Log ot - and even you won't see them

You should exclude those Pages from the top menu code, not make them private!

If you make a page 'private' in Wordpress, it will not show up to anyone (except you when logged in). So the page will not be there for normal visitors or for the search engines.

If you make the page 'password protected', the links will be there and the title will be there, but a user will need a password to read the content. Search engines can not see the content either unless you submit the access codes to Google's webmaster tools (for relevant adsense ads to appear).

If your only concern is the link tabs at the top of the site, then private/password does not even concern what you are trying to do. Just remove the needed links from that area of your site.
