      • Actually Google has confirmed that they are starting to ban accounts that promote rebills and shady free trial offers.

In the past they banned certain campaigns or sites, but now they are banning entire accounts and preventing new ones from being created.

2 legit stories about it below, plus a quote from a Google rep.

Google AdWords To Step Up Account Disabling & Improve Communication Process

Get Ready, Here Come More Google AdWords Account Bans

From Adwords Advisor a Google employee

"Unfortunately, some online advertisers continue to promote services and websites that do not help, and in some cases could harm, our users. For instance, these advertisers may offer free services that bait users into accepting hidden fees... Regardless of the practice, these types of campaigns do not benefit our users and we therefore take steps to enforce our policies and prevent such advertisers from running ads through our systems...

Therefore, we're being stricter with advertisers who deliver a bad user experience by permanently disabling AdWords accounts that engage in prohibited behavior...

We believe this new process of permanently disabling accounts will markedly improve the overall experience of our users, advertisers and publishers."

Google is always tinkering with things mostly meant to gives us a hard time.

In this case Google must have a new target market in mind -fat people with bad teeth.

There is really nothing wrong with the weight loss products (apart from the ones that do the continual billing) as they provide exactly what the reader wants; a quick fix for their problem. That is the beauty of the industry. The quick fix provides no real long term solution for the buyer (as they aren't interested in doing it properly) so the seller just has to keep producing new products for their returning customers. It is brilliant :p

Google is against advertisers ripping of their customers so it isn't the product that is of concern, it is the method of sale.

It won't really. The product creators will adapt if they find their sales are suffering due to not being able to advertise on Google. The advertisers can always move towards media buys or organic traffic if they want to promote the same products.

The dodgy rebill caper has been happening a long time before the internet. Most of the TV products are doing the same thing (in Australia). The mail order music and book clubs do it too, even wine clubs. Google seems to be the only one doing anything about it.
