How Do You Build Those Backlinks? No Really!

Alright so this is something I've been thinking about for a while so stick with me here while I explain.

For the past 3 months, I have without fail built 50 of Paul's and 30 of Angela's backlinks to 35 different articles in the penis enlargement niche. Despite this, I appear to have barely nicked the surface for even the longest tail keywords I'm targeting.

Now honestly, I've been spending practically all of my time on this but as I e-mailed back and forth with another warrior I couldn't help but seeing some genius in his thinking: If you're gonna be spending time to get backlinks, why not spend that time WRITING/spinning articles and get more content out to lots of directories? Then I got to thinking, hey with all of these articles, you could use free traffic system with all of em for tons more backlinks?

Now... I've heard the packets work well, but honestly with my 17 year old time constraints and budget, it's gonna take a long time for me to break into the penis enlargement niche I'm working on... So why not get more content out there instead of spending hours ONLY building links to the same articles?

I'm not really sure what to do here... I'm afraid to let go of using these packets but do you think I'm better off just writing lots of content and submitting it everywhere, then linking back to the original articles?

I'd like to get some input on what you guys have had success with here...

  • You are working a fraud niche plain and simple. There is no medical way to increase the size of your Johnson except for surgery. You can not selectively grow tissue. If you could then they could regrow arms, or ears or any other damaged appendage. And as I've said before if there was a way there would invariably be some idiot with a 3 and a half foot schlong.

    There are millions of things to sell... pick something legit and start over.

      Did it ever occur to you that the medical industry would loose hundreds of MILLIONS of dollars if a study was conducted that concluded natural penis enlargement doing jelqs and stretches worked?

      Why do you think one has never been done?

      and this includes a whole variety of other things, not just PE.

      also, having an above average penis makes you an idiot does it?

      - There is no scientific research to back this up.

      No ****. Not everything have scientific research to back it up, that doesn't mean it doesn't work. I'm not trying to call you out, but you're starting to get into other people's niches and say that what they believe is wrong.

      There is no scientific research that says jelqing DOESN'T work either.

      Brandon, don't take everything here at face value. Keep working and if you are seeing good results - keep building off of it.

  • The thing that Google is striving for and that builds the strongest backlinks is quality content.

    When you are constantly creating content that the other sites in your niche see as quality then you start getting backlinks from the authority sites in your niche.

    If you do not have the acceptance and sense of community within your own niche, then sooner or later Google will know too.

    Backlinks for the sake of getting backlinks is like building a house of cards.

    Google has spent years trying to find a way to deliver quality content to it's users.

    Once they figure out how to distinguish between backlinks that are earned and those that are bought then the cards come crashing down.

  • you r in a niche full of scammers and spammers. pick something worth doing, There are so many niches with lots of money that are easy to rank for on the long tail kws. Once you have a steady income coming in, then go after something more competitive.

    • You are in one of the most competitive/worst niches online, next to Weight Loss and Make Money From Home. It's possible that Google simple doesn't link your articles to your site due to all of the competition and spam built up.

      Have you gave any thought to forum marketing to try to get traffic? I wouldn't even recommend PPC.
  • Oh um. Ok. Lol that's a little discouraging but I could try something else. As far as the scam part... yes there are a ton of scams but I mean I've had 35+ sales with no refunds... you'd think it would be crazy if it didn't work at all. I even got a couple of thank-you e-mails but alas... I don't want to be an IM outcast, it sounds as if there's a pretty harsh stygma in the warrior community

    • There is absolutely money to be made in the Penis Enlargement genre. Most people here wouldn't even attempt such a market without big financial backing. Extenze is very wealthy for what they do and who their market is, but in order for them to get as far as they did... they had to spend a couple million in advertising. Without that, they wouldn't be nearly what they are to today, they would be just another magazine advertiser which is where most of the people in that niche cap out at.

      If I were YOU, and this is very well something I may attempt in the future...

      but "Online Model Advertising" which is what I call having online models who get nude on camera who have a link in their Bio's, or a Banner on their Walls, or a tight little shirt on... well, that may a good option for you that could get you a little "further" than your competition.

      Looking at competition on Google, it looks like there is only 747,000 competition, I feel there is probably more but Google has probably done something to prevent additional content from being crawled and listed. I dont know.
    • Hi Branlan, I think what the others are saying is that think "longterm". While this might be something that makes a few bucks here and there and gets your feet wet, I would ALSO venture into building a sustainable online business.

      Years from now, you'll be kicking yourself for not doing it sooner.

  • I'm thinking about just starting something new... I hate throwing away article upon article but the opposition I run into in this niche sucks... I guess it just sucked me in when I went from making nothing to several hundred dollars in a few weeks.
  • Leave the kid alone... if his passion is to make the world a 'bigger' place, that is his choice.
  • sexual enhancements will always be popular.. I can't think of many things that are as sustainable as sex.

    his big mistake, in my opinion, is writing and submitting articles.

    he should be developing a website devoted to sexual enhancement so when new products come along all he has to do is switch up his sponsors. it also allows you flexibility of trying out different products and marketing methods to find what sells best.

    the products change but the keywords generally stay the same and sex related niches will always be popular.

    I took a look at the competition myself and site #11 beabiggerman.com looks like easy pickin's. Top 5 or so.... probably way too much work, top 10 might be possible for the right SEO.

    • I have used Angela's backlinks and, like you, face time constraints. (Full-time, non-IM job). I have no doubt that they work given others feedback, however it is time consuming. As a result, I no longer use them.

      I've had good results with Free Traffic System and I just recently signed up for Jeremy Kelsall's Total SEO Solution WSO and am already starting to see results. (Not sure if you have enough revenue coming in yet to spring for $97/mo though).

      Since time is your main obstacle right now, consider only doing one packet and then mix it up with articles on Free Traffic System. That way you're getting different types of backlinks.

      As a side note, try experimenting with video. I have a video that I uploaded to about 7 video sites over 12 months ago and they still send me about 200 visitors a month. Not a ton of traffic, but totally worth it. It all adds up!

      Don't be afraid to try your hand at competitive niches. Get some income coming into the site and then flip it. Then the new buyer can worry about it's longetivity. In the meantime, take others' suggestion of building something more longterm.

      (My first site was in weight loss -- I didn't know any better. I got it to the point where it generated $700/mo. and then flipped it. Now I'm focusing on my longterm projects.)

      Also, some keywords -- even long tail ones -- take longer to rank for than others. I have one site that I've been working on for a year. But I'm finally in position #4 for a three word keyword that's pretty competitive.

  • Lol. Well, I think the plan right now is to take some time off from this and work on my WSO... When it comes time to be right back into affiliate marketing maybe I'll head in a new direction, thanks for your input everyone!

  • Well this is great input.... I've gotten not a whole lot on my actual question, which is the power of backlinks coming from similar articles in a bunch of different directories.

  • sorry, can't help with that, I don't write or submit articles. I'm a website guy and I rank my sites through backlinks... lots and lots of backlinks... everywhere I can stick 'em.

    i've considered writing articles... for more backlinks but haven't done it yet.

  • My attitude towards product creation and niche selection has changed over the last few months. Im no longer interested in selling something that I think "might be popular" because of the marketplace. Even if there is a bucket load of traffic.

    I now only sell HIGH QUALITY products that I know will add great value to someones life. I think once you establish the differences between just flogging a product and adding real value to someones life - then the money will surely follow and youll be much happier for it.
  • In the "male enhancement" niche I met a guy who is part of a circle of guys who promote those products using multi-threaded scripts they run 24/7 from their own servers. Each pushes out a minimum 4,000 links/day across hundreds of keywords and their variations. Most stick. I would say that trying to get to page 1 will be nearly impossible.

    • I am targeting phrases like "how do you make your penis bigger" "how to get a bigger penis" "ways to make your penis bigger" these types of phrases have other Ezine type articles and yahoo answers near the top so, while competitive, I don't think anyone with their own site is building that volume of links for those phrases or they would have hopefully beat out all of the articles by now.

  • Don't assume the spammers aren't building links to some articles they posted. Not all spammers send traffic to their own hosted sites, especially if they run a high risk of getting a server ban.
  • Well, alright you win, I'm torn on what to do I've put a lot into this. I know I shouldn't get caught up but my traffic has been increasing and I can't help but thinking that jumping now would toss away a lot of opportunity.

    • Just sit back for a while and focus on a new topic. Enjoy the random two or three sales a week that may or may not pop up. There are plenty of people who throw as much energy as they can into a niche or product for a month and then let it run on autopilot while they work the next month on another niche or product, and they rinse and repeat. Even if they only make one sale a week per product, once they've got 30 products running well on their own they can start doing more things they want. Say you make $24 per product, but you are promoting 30 products and you sell one per each, each week. Thats $720 a week. Not too shabby. Say after a year or two and some of your competition has died out, your sales triple as your position on search engines increase... then you're doing pretty well!

  • If you have already invested time let it ride out, just try to not to spend too much more money on it until it starts to return some revenue. I would pick one article you really think works well and point all your link power at it. If that doesn't do it, then walk away.

    You want to dominate one of the most competitive niches with a $5 month packet

    I mean Angela / Paul's packets are super great but you're going to need a lot more than just packets to rank high for a competitive niche like yours.

    Anyways, to get you started here are the basics:

    -Article Marketing
    -Social Bookmarking
    -Blog Network Distribution
    -Web 2.0 Hub creation

    ..etc (search on WF for the complete list)

    To save time, you can hire someone to outsource this for you if you're already getting a few hundred per month and then you can really start seeing good results.

  • Yeah so far I'm writing articles, submitting them to directories linking to the original article and my site, bookmarking the original article. Then spinning each article and having it posted with links to 30 blogs via free traffic system.

    It isn't "all out" but with my time contraints I feel it's a strong way to make progress. Since I started sticking to all of that a couple weeks ago I've seen my traffic go from just 30 uniques per day to a good steady average of 50-70 so I suppose I just keep getting content out there

    • Let me offer some advice...

      1) keyword research, build a nice list of phrases in this niche

      2) identify your top 3 organic competitors

      3) run backlink reports on them

      build a plan to 'match & beat' their ranks...those backlink reports will give up all sorts of linking ideas...hit what you can...

      Also during your keyword research make sure to attempt nailing all of the low hanging fruit possible with articles & social bookmarking...sounds like you are already doing this...just make sure you're doing your keyword research correctly to pickoff the easy phrase/targets.

      rinse repeat

      remember...in competitive niches (yours and any for that matter)...you just have to remember you're rolling a small snowball into a bigger one and it may take some time...

      competitive niches just = $$$
