Looking at some top blogging sites like the Thespruce.com and Neil Patel's site, they don't have this feature, is this not a requirement anymore?

In the States the potential governing law on this would be the "American Disabilities Act" from 1990? and it only applies to sites that are "Educational" vs commercial sites that do not need to meet the standard.

I think the last time I saw a figure for total websites with these features, it was like 2% i think? basically hardly any - not that I am saying "hey no one else is doing it, why should you?" but I would say after what 34 years? those that would need to comply are, and those that dont are probably not going to

Thanks, some years ago I had read on the net that all websites need to have it or would be fined upwards of 50k which is why I am inquiring now as I am having a problem with the free plugin on 2 of my sites. And the paid plugins are expensive.

always good to have accessibility features. I do not know if it's a requirement, but if it's not and you have problems with the plugins remove them

While not required for all sites, using a disability icon can improve accessibility and user experience.

This depends on your approach to a given feature you add or not, rather than a universal trend. Having a web accessibility icon can create a positive brand image, and connect easily, building trust & loyalty among users, especially those with disability.

It doesn't matter if you have such an icon or not. It's important that they are and to ensure that such features are easily discoverable and effective, even if not immediately visible.
