Can someone help me or provide an explanation?

My blog site was sitting pretty in the top 5 out of 230,000 for the last 3 weeks, then all of a sudden after making a post last night, my site is no where to be found for my main keywords.

I'm quite annoyed because i have put a lot of hard work into getting and keeping it at the top.

Is this just Google being annoying and will it re-appear soon on the front page?

Thanks,
Si

It's google dance and it's very common. Nobody can tell when it will come back.

It's really annoyign the way Google does that. There are sites no on the first page which have less backlinks than i do but yet they will now have the chance of making the sales i could have! grrrrr!

When you say vanished though, do you mean you cannot find your pages in the index at all?

The same thing happened to me. I heard that Google dance does not exist anymore and that updates are instant? Does anyone have any information on this?

Did this happen recently to you?

I know that the Google Dance still happens because my blog site danced about then settled down to 3rd on page 1 for the last two weeks. Then today it has just disappeared!

Right, well if it is still visible somewhere in the SERPs, even page 10, then its not a ban. Have you got a google webmaster tools account? If so log in and check your messages in case you have been given a ranking penalty for some reason.

Other than that its the google dance, it will settle in a few weeks. Just keep doing what you are doing at a steady pace, dont go mad and build a ton of links or it will look unnatural, just keep cool and keep going.

Hey Jazbo thanks for the info. I checked my webmaster tools and i have no messages. So hopefully it shall appear soon. Building around 30 backlinks a day from various different sources so hopefully that aint too much?

No amount of links is too much as long as its consistent. If you build 30 a day for to months, so google is finding them at a rate of X per day, then you stop for two months, then this will effect your "link velocity" and your potential SERP positon. Just build them at a rate you can easily sustain.

Give it time and it will find a position and then should stay there.

I think this goes to show that you should not rely too much on Search Engine Optimization, and should try to get a lot of good referrer traffic for your sites. This is something that I advocated in my course, although SEO comes naturally when you use my methods =)

I think your site will come back althought it's not uncommon that a site disappears for various reasons, although nobody really knows why...

Hope it comes back though, cause I know how hard it sucks when this happens

Some of my sites disappeared for weeks at a time. That's why you should have more than a few sites to work on. Then you aren't as emotionally invested when one goes down, just move on and keep working.

I have other projects on the go but this one was going sweet and the commissions would have been great. I have traffic coming from referrals as my pretty links hits are still rising daily. Would just be even greater if it hadnt disappeared for my main keyword.

Would pinging all my web 2.0 sites that refer back get it crawled in a hope that the Google spiders will tell the big G to get it back on the SERPs again?
