Excerpt considered duplicate content?

Hi everyone. I use the excerpt feature on my blog to show a preview about what the blog post is actually about. The excerpt is usually the focal point of the blog post, or the most interesting part. Would this be considered duplicate content since my home page has the exact same paragraph that you would find somewhere in my blog post?

Thanks for anyone who knows,

Jacob - No ... Duplicate Content Penalty does not exist no matter how you look at it.. This is not just talk I know because I do something very similar of what you are talking about and have been doing it for a long time. I get top listings and no penalty..

There is no duplicate content penalty, so I wouldn't worry about it. A lot of folks have problems believing this, but I watched a video of a Google search engineer a short time ago explaining this. Check this link to view the video. it is very interesting and should explain a lot to you regarding this topic.

  • Don't worry about it... it's a common practice in the blogsphere... it's not like Google doesn't know about it. They are not trying to penalize anyone for being organized and following industry practices. Besides several excerpts on a single category page would not mean a duplicate match.
