I used ahrefs to get some high related backlinks for my industry. Recently I just noticed that some high related backlinks with DA >30 but HAS NO TRAFFIC,which had large traffic several months ago but now had no traffic.
I assumed these websites are affected by the recent google updates.
my question is is it still very useful to get these high DA backlinks but traffic very low.

It's not even worth wasting your time on those links.
Artificially grown DR indicators will not give anything to your site. I would recommend focusing on sites that correspond to your topic and have traffic. Perhaps you will spend more time on such links, but the result will be much better!

Yes, high-quality backlinks with DA >30 can still be useful even with low traffic, as they continue to increase your site's authority. However, it's also important to consider other factors like the context and relevance of the backlink to your niche. Additionally, to boost traffic, you can turn to platforms like MGID to monetize your content through targeted ads and attract new audiences.

Check your website content, your content is not plagiarized check it now.

Check website backlinks. Your website has lost backlinks and users do not visit your website. is this a some reason?

Create a new backlink to a high DA website and give value to your website and blog post.

Regularly check website traffic or crawl budget.
    Thank you.

Backlinks from sites with zero traffic are not inherently harmful, they may not offer significant benefits. It's usually more effective to focus on acquiring quality backlinks from authoritative and relevant sites.

  • Generally, backlinks from websites with little traffic are of little to no value for ranking purposes, as they provide little authority or exposure. Backlinks from high-traffic and relevant websites are valued by search engines as they indicate trust and quality. If the content is relevant and of high quality, even low-traffic sites can contribute to a diverse backlink profile.

That's true, but in the end of the day every single link is more or less valuable. At least if they don't help much they will not do any harm.

Backlinks from websites with zero traffic are generally less helpful for SEO rankings. However, they can still have value if the site is:

Relevant to your niche or industry.
    From a high-authority domain.
    Offering unique, quality content.
Focus on backlinks from sites with good authority, relevance, and active traffic for better impact.

Don't just chase after high-DA links that don't get any traffic. A good backlink profile should have a mix of links from different places. It's cool to include some lower-DA sites, too, as long as they're relevant and bring in consistent traffic.

Traffic is just one aspect of link value. While organic traffic can suggest that a page is actively engaged with users, backlinks themselves are valuable due to the authority of the domain and the relevance of the link to your site.
Even with low traffic, the backlink from a high DA website can help your website by signaling authority to Google, especially if it's from a page with high trust.

Having backlinks from different sources is key to good SEO. They help boost your rankings, build trust, and avoid penalties. Diverse links show search engines that your content is valuable and reliable. This variety strengthens your site and helps it grow naturally over time.

The search engine rankings are less likely to be affected by backlinks from websites that do not receive any traffic. Backlinks are evaluated by Google based on their authority and relevance. Despite the fact that some of these sites may provide SEO benefits, high-traffic, authoritative sites will have a more significant impact on your search engine ranking.

Backlinks from high DA sites can still hold value, even if their traffic has dropped. Google often prioritizes domain authority and relevance over traffic. However, if the site has lost traffic due to penalties or poor content, its backlink value might diminish over time.

It's worth diversifying your backlink profile with both high-DA and high-traffic sites to ensure balanced results. Keep an eye on the site's recovery or decline--it could affect your rankings down the road.

I don't think they'll be very useful for generating real traffic. While they might provide a small boost to your overall ranking, it's not much, so it's best not to overuse them. Backlinks are most valuable when they're natural and come from relevant, high-quality websites and articles

My humble opinion is that if the DA is high, it would still help you boost your money site's DA. However, is DA an important metric on its own to considers? This debatable.

Personally I would opt for backlinks with traffic over 0 traffic any day.

In the context of wating to index new keywords, they can be helpful. [link removed by moderator]

    Your thoughts?

Backlinks from high DA websites can still provide some value, especially if they are relevant to your industry. While traffic numbers are important for user engagement and potential referral traffic, Google primarily values the authority and trust of the website (which DA reflects) over current traffic. However, if a site has lost its traffic due to algorithm changes, it could be an indicator that the site's authority is being questioned or diminished. It's always good to diversify your backlink profile with both high DA sites and relevant, high-traffic sources. Just keep an eye on the overall quality of the backlinks, as Google's algorithms are getting better at recognizing spammy or low-quality links.

A high DA but low-traffic backlink is not useless, but it's less valuable than a high DA + high traffic backlink. If a site was recently hit by Google updates, its backlinks may not pass much SEO value anymore. Prioritize quality over just DA for long-term ranking benefits.

Yeah, I've noticed the same with some backlinks. High DA is good, but if the site's traffic tanked, it might not pass as much value. Probably hit by Google updates. I'd focus on links from sites still holding strong.

As long as the zero traffic website is in the same niche as yours, the backlink is valuable. if in other niche with no relevancy, it is not. Simple. Traffic only means that the site is still getting some organic love from Google and coming in higher places serps and attracting some traffic. But, the traffic itself is not a deteminer of the backlink's quality. The relevancy of the content to be liked is what matters the most.

Here's the deal: Only Google really knows the answer, but they ain't spilling.

Google's famous algorithm was built on backlinks, and while it's evolved a lot since then, backlinks are still the backbone. Just look up their trademark.

That said, backlinking has evolved too. It's not just about the link itself but also the authority of the source.

Here's the key: if the backlink comes from a site in your industry (as defined by Google's categories and subcategories) and it's close to your niche, like first or second-degree connections (tiers), then yeah, it likely plays a role in your ranking.

  • Not really.

When you think about the purpose of a backlink, it's simply to serve one purpose to your site

    Increase its authority

But how do you gain authority with a backlink?

By leveraging other sites with the authority you're looking for.

If you're at ground 0. Backlinks from any number over zero are valuable to grow your authority.

But when you have a higher domain authority, then getting backlinks from lower tiers are fluff disguised as something valuable when it's not.

    Bottom line

Don't count the numbers. Make the numbers count.

    Hope this helps.

Even if a high DA site doesnt get a lot of traffic, its backlink can still give your SEO a boost, especially if it's relevant to your niche. Traffic is nice, but what really matters is the site's authority and relevance. So even if the site took a hit after a Google update, that link can still be valuable. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it's still a trusted site. If it is, that backlink can keep helping you out.
