Domain Names and partial keyword titles?

Let's say I lived in Waco, Texas.
I want to target the area of Waco for several different niche "Opportunities".
To consider a domain name, I use Google Adwords Keyword tool and run 2 searches:
"Broad" Waco Opportunity
Local does not have enough data, Global has 500 results
"Broad" Waco Opportunities
Local & Global do not have enough data
Using "Exact" / "Phrase" on both, the Local & Global do not have enough data
Based on this initial search data, it would tell me this would be a poor choice for a domain name to start with and would have a pretty hard time getting easy traffic if I understand the mechanics of SERPs correctly.
However, let me take this to the next level..
Let's say I wanted to target hotels in Waco as part of what my web site would offer.
Using Google keyword tool again:
"Exact" waco hotel
2,900 Local search volume, 22,200 global
"Phrase" yields the same data, so this would be somewhat promising.
The ideal domain name is to serve as a "catch all" but I would still like to be able to harnass all or part of the domain name for SERPs.

Considering "Broad" on the initial domain name had several hundred return in the search volume, but the other 2 methods didn't have enough data, would it be best to use a domain name like www*wacoopportunity*com or would it be more beneficial to use the plural version like www*wacoopportunities*com ?

The plan is to write and publish several articles to help direct traffic to the site, but let's say I ended up choosing the plural version.

If I had an article titled "Chef Opportunities in Waco" and used keyword anchors in different articles I would write, like "Chef Opportunities", "Culinary Opportunities", "Gourmet Chef Opportunities", etc. --would hosting these articles on the domain with having part of the keyword in the domain name ("opportunities") have any significant impact?

While I understand a brand new domain isn't going to carry much weight initially, my plan is to make it an authority site for the things I would like to promote. The ultimate goal is to turn the web site into a lead capture page, targetting people who are looking for us.
I've been building a web site using Word Press, almost finished with it and getting to the point of picking the ideal domain name next. The next step after that is to simply start pumping out articles to help drive traffic.
Any wisdom, feedback or comments would be appreciated to help me from going down the wrong road(s)!
