Super Newb Mistake - Listen Up

OK well I'm not new at all to SEO really now and I found a monster mistake on one of my sites that features a blog. Over 35 pages haven't had any tags listed on them and perhaps a reason for not ranking as fast as I liked. So I've added tags to all of the pages and we'll see if the theory hold true that tags really do make a difference in SEO. As of now I'm already ranked well but I'll see what kind of difference it plays in some of my harder to rank keywords. I'll update my findings as soon as I see something change in the SERP's.

  • I thought tags were only used by the technorati system? I'm relatively new to the whole SEO scene, but I thought tags were popular for that system and they've since changed the way they treat blogging and other sites. Much like how Google changes their algo's. =)

  • OK well here's my update for today. It appears that Yahoo is now dancing on my site and kind of dropped me down a few spots but not that bad really. Google is giving me some love now and ranked me a tad higher on a few keywords and my #1 spot keywords remain strong. The biggest surprise is that Bing gave me major love and is ranking me much high on all of my keywords. I'm doing so much better on Bing now than Yahoo or Google. I'm hoping over the next few days the dance stops and I'll have a better result. I will post updates soon.

    • Bing is on the rise so that may really benefit you. Searches increased 7% in October.
  • I have often seen my wordpress tag categories rank on Google in their own right, so yes they are worth adding.
  • I just installed the All in One SEO for my blog and don't really understand how it works. I've read some of the instructional text on setting it up but still confused as to what it does. Can someone enlighten me please?
