Hi,
I have submitted my site for dmoz listing but there is no response from them. Its been 2 months now.

Does anyone provide a service where they can grantee a listing.

Unfortunately DMOZ can take a very long time to get listed in, if at all. All sites are manually reviewed so it's important for your website to actually have value.

Take a look at some other websites in your category. Follow what they're doing in terms of content and avoid too much sales hype.

I would suggest resubmitting every two months if not listed. Make sure you follow all of their instructions.

Word of advice- Don't hold your breath.

Actually, one of those instructions is to be patient and don't keep resubmitting. I've heard that it just pisses them off and then you might never get approved.

DMOZ is a law unto themselves, so my advice is to submit and then just forget about it. Hopefully you will eventually be approved, but it won't make or break your site if you aren't.

Also, even a three month wait isn't at all unusual, so you're still inside the window.

There is no one who could guarantee a listing in Dmoz other than the editor of a particular category and then to do so would be against the rules of Dmoz and get that editor banned pretty quickly (there are higher level editors that oversee everything). The main sites that won't get listed in dmoz are sites that sell something being submitted to any category other than a shopping one, affiliate / franchise / cookie cutter sites, and squeeze pages.

Even if you have submitted the website in the right category and followed all the instructions there is no guarantee that your website will be listed in DMOZ.

I've heard on WF a while back it is often a good idea to become an editor if you want to get listed as it can take so long. Becoming an editor isn't easy one of the things you need to do is find 3 websites worthy of being listed in the category you want to edit.

Just an idea if you're determined to get in there keep at it.

Personally I do not bother with DMOZ, they seem to be fairly corrupt. As in you almost need to be an editor or know someone to get in. People get in as an editor for their niche and try to control who gets listed etc. I'd just recommend focusing on other directories, as I find DMOZ to be a time waster.

It's not really a time waster in my opinion because it does not take long to do the actual submission, you do not need the follow up the submission (doing so is counter productive), but if you get a listing it gives you quite a few backlinks.

I submitted my wine club site about 5 months ago, without any word. After checking out Market Samuri I did notice that of the top 10 Google results for my main target search term, only 3 have DMOZ listings.

Pretty interesting especially since the 3 with listing have all been around 10+ years.

I think their acceptance rate can vary drastically based on category.

Here's what I have to say to DMOZ, the place that will give 1000s of entries to their preferred branded sites yet let other sites sit for many months:

Great resource! I just looked up a bunch of sites on DMOZ that I have never seen in my niche before. Why? Because they do not rank for Google. Nice!!!

Submit and forget. They seem to have their own agenda over at DMOZ.

+1 for submit and forget. DMOZ is corrupt, inconsistent, out dated, and not worth anything more than a few minutes of your time. I'm certain Google must be heavily discounting DMOZ links at this point in time. They are better than Joe's directory, but not by much. The human edited directory days coming to an end - fast.

Well, you submit to dmoz that's good and now forget it as it takes very longer some times more than a year to list a new site with good quality.

That is common practice...DMOZ is pretty much dead in my eyes....If you apply as an editor in one category then maybe there is a chance...

Actually DMoz takes long time for indexing a website. Similar things also happed with me. Near about 4 months are over but I haven't found my listing. So it's better to concentrate on posting in other places.
