Link Wheel Question. Can anybody answer it please?

I've heard a great deal about link wheels. From what I've read in this forum, some people are for it and some aren't. For the most part I have heard that they work. I want to try it on a website i'm building. I have three questions. Your help would be appreciated.

1. If I have a website with 5 pages of content ( each targeting a keyword), do I need to build a link wheel around each page or can I simply use one linkwheel for the whole website since it will be in the same niche?

2. How many pages do you recommend per web 2.0? I have seen some people do 1 page link wheels.

3. How the heck do I get my wordpress.com blog indexed! This one is not that important but i'm frustrated that i built it 2 weeks ago and it has yet to be indexed. It has 3 post, around 250 words each. The thing is, I also built a blogger blog and this one only has 1 page of content, but this one was indexed within a week. I built links to both of them through a couple of ezine articles.

So yeah, the last question is not that important, it's just frustrating u know? You opinions and advice will be kindly appreciated. Thank you.

Oh I just remembered, 1 final question.

Are linkwheels used for direct traffic, if so, must I use the same keywords in them as my website? Or are they used simply to rank you higher in the search engines? If so, then keywords in link wheels don't matter?

O.k. guys, i don't know how the heck all these other questions came up but I apologize. Even if you can only answer one of them it would be helpful.

    They are usually made to rank better, but you can make some traffic from that too.

    Probably it would be best to make backlinks for main page, but it is depending on your situation.

      This is helpful information. To tell you the truth though, i don't like to bookmark webpages, I feel like i'm spamming. Since I don't really contribute to site such as digg, stumbleupon, mixx, etc. I did get banned form Newsvine, this is why I stopped doing social bookmarks. Other than that i do backlinks through comments and articles, now i'm trying to build them from web 2.0. But i heard that a link wheel is better.

      Thanks for your info, it helps a lot. Any more of you out there have opinions?

        Social bookmarking sites are made for bookmarking. There's no shame in using them for your own site. Just don't abuse/overuse them. I have had bookmark submissions index faster and higher in search engines than my actual sites, so you may want to bookmark your blog.

        Wordpress.com Indexing:
        If your Wordpress.com blog is a subdomain of Wordpress.com, it may take a while for it to index. I've read that subdomains take longer (sometimes months) to index. I don't know if this would be a problem with a Wordpress.com subdomain or not.

        Backlinks:
        Be sure you use your keyword phrase in the anchor text of your backlinks (for example, if your blog is about "dog toys", create backlinks with "dog toys" hyperlinked - without the quotemarks of course).

        LinkWheels:
        From what I've read, it's a good idea to use as many pages (Web 2.0 or other) in your link wheel as possible. I wouldn't recommend using more than one page from each service or domain in a linkwheel. You don't necessarily need the exact same keywords in the "spokes" of the wheel. I would mix it up so the SE's don't figure out what you're doing. All pages must be closely related to your main site's topic, though.
        When linking to your main site, don't forget to use your keyword phrase in the anchor text of the hyperlinks. Links in the content of a page are said to carry more weight than just a linkroll.
        Again, I would mix it up. Don't use the exact phrase in every single link in the hub. One might say "dog toys" and another "buy dog toys here", or "awesome squeaky dog toys", etc.

          Thanks, this is another helpful post. yeah the problem with social bookmarking is that i don't know how to use it properly without seeming or feeling like a spammer.

          yeah my wordpress.com domain is "keyword.wordpress.com" so i don't know if this is why it's taking so long to index. My blogger blog however is indexed already and it has less content than my wordpress blog. don't know why though. maybe google likes blogger better.

      Yeah this was the first thought that came to my mind but I saw a seminar done by a guy that works for google and he talked about how much Google loves wordpress.(i saw it online) Here is the link if you want to take a peek. Its 46 minutes long but it is very interesting. How to rank well in Google using Wordpress Blogs and get TONS of Traffic | The Freebie Guy. But anyways, yeah i know that blogger is owned by google but it still doesn't make sense. I'm not too concerned about it though. Just curious.

    If you can afford it, you need to setup your link wheel properties on different IP addresses. By doing this, it looks like the sites are being created from different locations. The Google bots might recognize that all of the sites in the link wheel are coming from the same IP address if you don't mask your IP addresses.

    You can get rent IPs for a full day from IPRental.com for $10, or you can spend $50 for a monthly membership. There are other sites where you can spend over $100 per month for IP addresses, but the link wheel would work better if you can change up your IPs

      Or I could use 6 different computers from 6 different friends. LOL I've heard about this method.

    To my Knowledge, linkwheel is used to rank high for a specific keyword for your niche or website marketing, in this case you should use the same keyword in one linkwheel, you should use the "keyword" in all of your anchor links. all the web properties should be linked in one direction without any back linking and one link should point to your main page which you want to rank from each web 2.0 sites, this should be in a wheel shape.

    This is how i am doing and i am using web 2.0 sites by there PR, which is somewhere between 6 and above

      yeah it makes more sense to use them to get ranked rather than direct traffic. I believe some people do use them for direct traffic rather successfully though.
