First page, first position on google: What's next?

Hey IM-ers,

Recently, I gotten one of my sites rank 1st on google for a certain keyword, getting about 50 uniques purely by organic traffic on a daily basis.

So the question is:

What do I do next?

Adsense is out of the question. I got banned when I was still a novice in IM

Any advice?

  • Find an affiliate product, or in the future pick a topic to rank that comes with a product in mind to make money with. If you know you can't use Adsense, you need an alternative plan when spending all that time getting a keyword to #1. If you can't find a product, then flip the site for a profit and use the money to focus on an affiliate product.

    • I am kinda new to flipping a site. Do I need to have a reseller's account or is that possible with a basic hosting acc. at hostgators?

  • What was the original monetization plan for the site? Some kinda cb or cpa product related to the sub-niche perhaps? I say "sub-niche" becoz IM is a big niche so you might want to zero in on a sub eg affiliate marketing, seo, ppc, product creation, etc...

    • I was so focused on getting the page ranked I didn't bother about the monetization part. lol! But I tossed in a few clickbank links here and there, and I found that the viewers have a preference for automized affiliate marketing sites products and article marketing products.... Perhaps I would work that way?

      I heard that CPA would earn you money even though the viewer whom clicks on your link does not buy the product? How does that method work?

  • Hi Ed,

    Why stop with "a certain keyword". The way to get tons of traffic is to rank for tons of keywords.

    You are getting some traffic, so go the affiate route, but also work on getting traffic from more and more keywords, it really isn't "either/or"...Mpw that you know how to get rankings and traffic, go get more.

    And it doesn't have to be in the same niche...There's millions of profitable keywords you can rank for.
  • What is your niche? Go to ClickBank, use the key words that got your site to Google Page 1 search for hot selling products in that niche. You want products with high %refd which reflex high sale figures by Affiliates. The other important figure is Gravity. You want it above 60 or as high as possible. However when it is very high you will encounter very high competition. You want to vary that to see what works for you. Try limit to below 120 initially to see if you will earn a few dollars first. The selling price and the percentage of your entitlement is also important. You need to make sure what you earn will reward your effort. Personally anything over $20 is fine for me.
    I will also try to apply Adsense again, you might be forgiven already?

    • I would thnk that the search term itself (the one you are getting 50 uniues a day) would pretty much tell you what to offer. Give them what they are looking for.
  • You don't get stable rankings on SERP. If you want to stay on top, then you have to continue building links.
  • Simply build consistant amount of backlinks.
