Adsense and Firefox (Adblock Plus)

Do you think Adsense is really effective bearing in mind that Firefox surpasses other browsers in terms of overall use?

Firefox allows its users to incorporate Adblock Plus which effectively blocks most of the advertisements found online.

What are your experiences in this matter?

  • IE is still more widely used in the US market than Firefox. Of course, IE has it's own ad blocking technology available too.

What I've found is about a 30-40% reduction in ad impressions on sites that get traffic from more tech savvy groups. That reduction not only applies to Adsense but to other advertising as well. Even cloaked affiliate links won't redirect correctly or set cookies.

But, when you get away from tech savvy users the reduction drops to 10% or less.

    • Agree, these ad blocking technologies may become more popular which doesn't sound good to me.
