A Simple Question Regarding Backlinks

This question is for those that actually know because they do it. Here it goes:

1. If I write 50 articles with my link in the bio box and submit it to 50 different article directories, does that mean I have 50 do follow backlinks?

If this is not how getting links from articles work could one of you Warriors that know how it's done explain it to me as though you were explaining it to a Fifth grader. I am A bit overwhelmed by all the different internet marketing jargon and need some basic, easy to understand methods that don't require the learning curve of a software. I just want to K.I.S.S. it Thanks in advance for your help

  • I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but...

    In my opinion, every link from a different website counts as another link.

    If it's the same article over & over again, I think search engines might discount the value of those links, but I'm not sure. 50 different articles at 50 different websites... that sounds good to me.

    There is another factor to consider, and that's whether or not those sites have software so links aren't do-follow links.

    • When writing articles, don't worry if the links are Do-Follow links. Just write the articles. Every article that links back to your website counts as a link. In theory, the number of links you have comes into play when Google decides where to rank your website in the search engines.

      The number of links you have is important, but the PR ranking of the sites linking to your site is important too. If you have have a bunch of high ranking websites linking to your site, you have a better chance of showing up high in the search engines.

      The issue of Do-Follow links comes into play when blogging. Do-follow links vs. no-follow links is really a Google thing. Other search engines could care less what types of links you have.

      Anyways, if you are writing articles, it is better to just focus on writing articles for the main article directories. Don't worry too much about do-follow links for now. It is not that important for article writing.
  • These are backlinks. Whether or not they are dofollow, will depend on whether the article directories give dofollow or nofollow links. For eg. Ezine will give you dofollow, but articlebase will give nofollow.
  • Yahoo Explorer counts every links coming from you site's pages, while Google counts as one link only multiple links with the same keyword used coming from a single page..

      Yes, placing your article on 50 different directories creates 50 different backlinks. Whether they are nofollow or not is dependent upon the rules of each individual directory.

      If your articles are useful to many folks you can expect additional backlinks. The primary function of most article directories is syndication. That means other webmasters can copy your articles onto their websites and if they leave the links hot in your resource box you gain additional backlinks from the syndication of your articles.
  • If you submit 50 articles to 50 different directories, that's 2500 backlinks (50 x 50). But the fact that they are all coming from directories may actually hurt your site if you don't have links from other locations like forums, blogs, social media, etc...

    The biggest key to getting backlinks is to mix it up so the links look like they are coming naturally.

    Personally, I only focus on getting articles onto eZineArticles because that's the biggest article directory. Their standards are tough, and getting more difficult every day, but it is absolutely worth it because in addition to the links, you will get actual traffic.
  • Dont forget to change those articles when you submit to different article directories. Otherwise you might get diluted credit from duplicate content.
  • I try to change the articles up a bit so they don't get flagged as duplicate content and therefor nerfed, but a link is still a link. A link from a duplicate page is better than no link at all in my opinion!
