Banned From Adwords? Maybe They Did You a Favor

There have been a ton loads of posts about adwords giving people the boot recently. In all the weeping and tears I want you to consider this -

Maybe Google is doing us all a favor.

It seems that alot of people were banned for landing pages that did nothing but promote affiliate products or CPA or just went to a squeeze page. The truth is in today's web you need to be building a complete site. Yes You can have a sales page but maybe now it shouldnt be locked off from the rest of your site as we have all been doing (I am making changes).

In fact I know the copy writers will cry foul but maybe we need to look over again at the whole idea of sales pages because if google is kicking poor landing pages to the door in adwords can Serps be far behind?

Not only do we need to have fuller sites we need to have a fuller deeper product line. the other Google program that doesn't make much sense to me is Adsense. If you are going to develop wider sites and a greater presence why would you not start developing your own products? (provided your niche lends itself ot it)

I know it might sound daunting but as a programmer I can tell you it has become MUCH easier to develop your own product - even software - than a year or two ago. You can basically even get master resale rights to an existing product and COMPLETELY transform it into software, a membership sight or online app in little time. I was recently able to change what was usually just an information pack into a small web app in a few days without much fuss. Even if I hadn't known programming I could have done it relatively cheaply by outsourcing it.

For those in a niche where your own product can't be made you can make much better money with some affiliate programs.

Every now and again in my life I have thought a horrible thing happened to me only to find out that it was one of the greatest moments to a fantastic turn around. Having google slap you should make you wake up to develop a wider web strategy

I've always wondered why people who drive the kind of traffic to their sites to make money with Adsense wouldn't get their own stuff going. You do realize that everybody involved in that transaction was making more money that you right? You -the one who actually delivered the customer?

Google made more money charging the advertisers, the advertisers were willing to shell out nice per click fees just to get one of your site visitors because they made way more than you and there you were holding a couple cents and you were the one with the most valuable commodity - the customer.

And why would you continue to spend money on adwords than develop a wider deeper web strategy that drives traffic to your site without paying for every click.

So cheer up. A boot to the door by Google might just be the boot to your head that finally puts you in control of managing your own traffic and if you add adsense as one of the things to reconsider also put you in control as the one making the dollars rather than picking up the pennies adsense was throwing for you to pick up.

Provided your niche is good for its own products and many are.

Are you referring to recent Adsense bannings or Adword bannings? I haven't seen much of an outcry regarding Adsense accounts getting banned... Adwords accounts however is a completely different story.

Sure adsense may not be the best thing in the IM world, but it certainly isn't the worst. I think it's great for starting out and don't see anything wrong with focusing on that vehicle initially. Once you get some success it makes the whole IM thing believable, from there you can scale out or branch into other methods.

Sorry superassasin. I completely convoluted two points I wanted to make but they were separate. I have now corrected it and hope it makes more sense.

I don't get it. If you can be a success getting pennies off of your traffic why wouldn't you be more a success with getting a larger piece of the pie? If adsense isn't the worst thing in the world for an Imer that can drive traffic can you name me any popular revenue system that pays less?

I'm sorry I think its absolutely horrible for a newbie. A good product and a 1% close rate with half decent copy will kick adsense around the block and down the street any day. To me adsense makes sense only for niches you can't develop your own product for. Worse for the newbie the work versus reward timing stinks and tends to frustrate the newbie.

I can say that relying on just adsense for online income, is the stupidest thing you can do.

While I earn a lot from Adsense, it is only a small fraction of my income. Google is just to unstable to have all your eggs in their basket.

If people are being booted for thin landing pages, good.
Honestly, they are woefully designed, and rarely deliver information in a way that is useful... and if we're being honest, most of the time the products on them are substandard.

Is it really that hard to create a site that has 4-5 pages on it, minimal scrolling, and presents the information in a logical order?
If I'm looking for a product, personally, I don't care what other people think. Put testimonials on another page.
I don't really care if you're throwing in bonus stuff because usually I don't want or need it. Put it on another page.
I don't really care about your life story. Put it on another page.

I am interested in your product's features. I should see that first.
I am interested in purchasing your product. That should also get its own page

Five pages... Is it so hard to make a site that has 5 pages that I don't have to spend 8 minutes mindlessly tapping PgDn to be able to buy your product?

Agreed. I went with a sales page because my niche was accustomed to them and its done pretty well (about 6-7% close rate) but I am moving away to a presence that I can do more with and won't get slapped by Google. Building a fuller sales site gives more value to your customers and now ensures that your site won't be bumped off over night.

Wait, so they're banning people who do cpa with adwords now?

I was just about to start doing this like TODAY or maybe tomorrow (don't know if there are good days and bad days for ppc). But if they're banning people for cpa then I guess I may just use it instead for my site with actual physical products.

    Wow, this sucks!!

Herms, you could use other PPC networks instead. MSN, Yahoo, adbrite..
      Lots of possibilities.

Joshua agreed. Thats the only way I would make my living off of PPC and thats by spreading it across networks. I know adwords brings you a lot of traffic but I learned very early one that having your business relying totally on one third party is way too risky
