Hi,

I noticed this site ranked with the keyword "mass control" achieved SERP 1 even before the main site it advertises.

Nothing wrong there right? Well he has absolutely no good backlinks (10 links with 0 or a little more PR and even those are mostly no follow)

How is this possible? Did the current SEO gurus get it wrong? Did this guy pay off Google?

In all seriousness if someone can explain why he managed this please tell me.

10 links is more than enough to get ranked number 1 in certain niches, I've done this many times.

I'm not quite sure what the mystery is?

  • Clearly your definition of "good backlinks" needs to be rethought as it is not the same as Google's. Which one matters?

had to look... which site? The #1 for me has 15k, #2 has 70ish... must be #3 on the list.

Probably has something to do with it being a keyword that nobody wants to rank for.

Pretty much the entire top 10 is weak on backlinks. Guess that keyword is fair game. Problem is... no money to be made here.

invest time on your keyword and the website itself.. before you get or find backlinks make sure your onpage optimization is on the right track.
