Is It Possible To Rank Blogger Blogs Above .com's/.net's?

Hi All,

Has anybody got experience ranking blogger blogs against the rest of the competition?

In your experience, would you say its possible/easier to rank a blogger blog above competitors - and is it easy to do so would you say?

Speculating is easy, but Ive created a few this week to see if it can be done... theyve not been indexed yet, but Im hoping for this soon.

I appreciate a lot of it depends on the strength of competition, number of backlinks etc... but would you say that a blogger blog is treated in exactly the same light as a .com domain for instance, or does your experience indicate that they get pushed below in SERPs?

Thanks!
#blogger #blogs #com or net #rank

I have a blogspot blogger which ranks very well and I can get 2000-3000 uniques from it BUT it has just over 21 000 backlinks according to site explorer. I started this as a hobby site and got loads of other backlinks from other mommy bloggers if you know what I mean

Examples of public blogs which rank for highly competetive words are
    moneymakerinfo.blogspot.com
    makemoneyforbeginners.blogspot.com

these are all on page 1 for the highly competetive make money terms the crucial thing is to just work on your seo just like any other site

Agreed with this. You should never think its a blogger domain. Just do how u do for normal domains. Depends on the competition of KWs it takes time for to reach high position.

I think it is possible as long as the blog has some really great content.

Blogger has the mighty google behind it. I find it funny when
people ask this question, as blogspots normally rank most out
of the top 10. I have no idea where people come up ideas.
Do a search for blog topics on google and see how many blogspots
      that show up. Plenty.

But as for a question as to dot coms, well, as usual it depends
on the site and what a person has done with it. Normally
blogs rank for blog type sites and dot coms for normal dot
com sites. I have a blogspot blog that highly outranks
many dot coms in the niche. And yes, it's the free blogspot.

In fact, I just took one of my companion dot com blogs and
did a blogspot blog in its place. Even though it was brand new,
after a few posts it was near the top. I always credit this
to google owning blogspot the way youtube and google own the videos.

It was confusing to read the opening post, but I understand what you're trying to say. A free Blogspot blog can rank as well as any other type of blog or web page. The example of Griz and Liew in the MMO (make money online) niche is a good one because that is one of the big heavyweights to compete in. All the A-Listers (example John Chow) are way down for those keywords, whilst those free Blogspots are at the very top. BTW, it would be a lot better for you to move to your own top level domain (for a number of reasons), but then just stay on Blogger's server where you get free, reliable and unlimited hosting. You'll find that with rankings, it's mostly all about backlinks, anchor text etc. Concentrate on those.

Thanks very much for all the advice.

I was going to build my mini niche sites using .com's but the cost started becoming far too much for me, which is why I've started on blogspot's.

I've made a few already but it's just taking ages to get indexed which is annoying (been 5 days already now).

I know to keep at it now! Thanks all

Just to give an update, if anyone is interested, my blogspot's are indexed now, and for one niche I already have a top 10 SERP. Im going to work on backlinks and more content to make it in the top 3.

I think this is going to be great for xfactor method as I dont have to pay $10 for every .com, its all free!

yes you can definitely rank well with a blogger blog, just build some links to it and do your SEO. I would still prefer to run my own domain with a blog.

Yeah - but its the cost of buying more and more domains...

It's possible but ofcourse it will not be instant. Ranking in first page in search engines take some time. You can be assured because I was searching for a religious keywords and to my surprise, I got a lot of blogger blogs in the lists :-)

A blogger blog can rank above on .com or .net other TLDs and it having a main domain or subdomain do not matters in ranking if your blog have enough good quality then it may sure rank above any othet .com or .net domain.

It is certainly possible to get high rankings for your blogger blog. All you need are one way backlinks (high competition = many one way backlinks)

The same applies for .info domains. I have seen info domains in first pages of google for high competition keywords. All that matters are backlinks.

Everyone please remember that Google ranks PAGES not WEBSITES. If one page is "better" than another, regardless of the website its on, that page will rank better. (period)
