My first site is up for about a week. It hasn't been indexed in google yet. I haven't started article marketing yet. Is there anything I can do to get indexed faster? Will article marketing help with indexing? By the way this will be an adsense site.

A week is acceptable to most.
A day or two is what really should happen.
There is no secret to getting indexed, but for
some reason many espouse some voodoo rituals
and putting dead cats under your pillow, chanting
a few lines, wait till a full moon. etc.

As long as your site is linked from a site already
indexed, it will be indexed shortly. If you put it in your
sig here, it may take minutes or a few hours.

Forget the magic potions and other nonsense.

If your site is not indexed within a few days, google just
does not like it. Period. No amount of incantations, gyrations,
google submissions, or other such rot is going to help.

Anybody that tells you that you can "help" google index a page
other than normal links is not giving you good info.

    Google does not need help.

Now yahoo and bing, well that's another matter.

It usually takes around 1-3 days for me, but for some reason I have one I made about 4-5 days ago still not indexed. It's really random, and I'm not worried about. Social bookmarks, signatures, and other links do help the bots crawl your site, but when it gets indexed exactly is tough to determine.

Once you are indexed, then what?
Being indexed doesn't shoot you to the top of the food chain.
IMHO you do not want to count on Google for all of your traffic anyway, so try and promote your site in other ways that does not take Google into account. And I am not talking about spam but by advertisements, giveaways, coupons, or what have you.

If you concentrate on this "other" type of traffic Google is certain to pick up on you, perhaps in a big way.

Have you try create rss feeds and doing rss submission, ping sites, etc? This is a good method to get more backlinks and get indexed by google

Here are the steps I take to get indexed:

      - Social Bookmarks (don't overdo this as you'll appear spammy)

      - Write 1 Article and submit to GoArticles (ezine takes a while to approve)

      - Comment with a link back to your site in the most relevant, highest traffic, auto approving comment blog you can find (yes, they're far and few between but they're there. Only do 1 comment)

      - Write more than 1 post. If you're using Wordpress, WP pings search engines automatically after you publish a post.

This has always gotten me indexed in week, usually in 2 to 3 days.

      Hope this helps.
