I have found many of you having links in your signature. I myself have two of them in mine. But i always had this doubt whether google would value these links since many of them are not related to the forum topic. Has anybody in the forum had succuss with such unrelated backlinks in the signature?

I find that 2,000 odd forum backlinks has taken sites I've worked on to a PR2... of course I don't solely rely on forum links, but the majority come from my signature.

The blog in my sig, for example, is on page one for the term "Modern Zen". Before I started building backlinks with the anchor text "Modern Zen" it wasn't even showing up for that term.

So, I had a forum with about 1,500 posts I'd made, so I added the Modern Zen blog to my signature and within a couple of days it shot up to page one.

To be sure they are not good links, I'd class them as very low-level links, but they do help

Is it me, or does it depend on whether the webmaster of the forum has to have DO FOLLOW on the links for them to be counted?!

  • Backlinks from authority websites is quite important to consider. Google gives more preference to links coming from related websites but they also consider links from off topic website if they are really good.

forum back links will have a very small effect, but every link counts, unless they are from a bad neighborhood. So the good news is as far as we know, warriorforum is not a bad neighborhood.

They are definitely low level. Given the fact that we're generally here to exchange information and learn-the backlink juice is an added bonus (at least to me, it is).

There are plenty of ways to build higher quality links, but these forum sig's can become valuable over time as some pages end up with their own page rank.

to be honest I think that's the best attitude to have. I've picked up custom from sign links before and that's where a lot of their value comes from.

Click-through rate might increase with signatures for a more popular niche. What about the ones like weight loss links or something like mine? I don't think anybody from would like to click through such links.

forum links are very effective and can help webmasters a lot, even unrelated ones. It is however recommended that you aim for related links and forums for the best reward for your time!

sig links are the same as the links in your post, and though not so relevant, GG still counts them as backlinks, just not as important as those high-quality ones.

I believe that the old saying that you used to say to your teacher when you only had 5 out of 10 pages for a report is: Quality, not quantity. I think that is goes better in the marketing world.

My signature backlinks in some high pr forums always get detected by gogole, so i think its not a problem. You need to check if the forum is dofollow or nofollow

Signature links from relevant forums have more value than that from irrelevant forums. But it does have value & it also helps in driving traffics.

Forum backlinking is still effective but it is one of the kind of backlinks I think Google will eventually crack down on. I just finished an installment on this subject and as has been suggested it should be just part of your strategy. No one gets hundreds of forum signature backlinks naturally. If you have all your eggs in that basket get something else for breakfast because one morning you will wake up and have no eggs left.

LOL I can't believe people are still saying that relevance has something to do with rankings. Simply not true at all and has been proven many times over. That's just noob talk. All of my sites do not have any relevant sites back linking and they are all doing very well.

Google will value these links since many of them are not related to the forum topic, but anyway, it is a good way to get more traffic and don't worry about it.

Not going to help big, its just within the forum from my view
here in warrior you can use your signature link to sell your WSO or get some subs for your list. I think it cant help more than that. You cant expect more also from signature links

From my experience, What I can say is, forums signatures still do have values in terms of SEO. Still these are being counted as a vote to the sites, even those are not related to the niche. I had some success stories too on this way.

Sig links are more than fine. You can get a lot of traffic off them if they are in your niche too.
