Having more than one blog, good or bad?

I have been told that having more than one blog on my godaddy hosting account is bad. Something about all new domains aliased to the main domain, I'm not really sure of the specific reason but has anyone heard of this?
Also, I'm currently focusing on 2 blogs, one is dedicated to products of my business only, and the other blog is mainly to promote the business opportunity side of it. My question is if this is a good idea?
For example, when I talk about products on the business opportunity blog, is it ok to link it to my products blog?
I've been told that haveing 2 blogs is bad and that linking them to each other is even worse, they are both wordpress blogs on my hosting, so I can kind of see how it could be duplicate content but I'm not really sure. Anyone got anything for me?
