My SERP..

Hi Warriors,

If I create a unique 400 word article on my blog and also submit that SAME article to EZA, who would show higher in the ranks for the title?

Let's say I wait for it to be indexed on my blog first, then I submit to EZA, would they still show higher due to their greater authority and/or page-rank?

I'd love to here your views.

Happy holidays all,

Louis

  • I believe your article has to be unique to be published on EZA. It should not be published anywhere else. If you let your article get indexed first on your blog, chances are EZA will find out about it and may not find it eligible for approval.

Let's see what other warriors have to say.

    • Hey Pluto,

You're right, in fact my account was suspended due to that very reason (author name didn't match my pen name) and as we all know.. the help/ contact-us button fires blanks over at EZA.

Anyhoo EZA was just an example, I was talking more in terms of rank and authority over original author.

  • There is no black or white answer to your question. If published simultaneously (lets forget uniqueness concern for a sec), EZA probably ranks higher given their higher "authority". But it will also depend which article is linked to the most, plus other factors.
  • I agree, EZA has higher authority and reputation, so it probably will over rank you.
  • I remember knocking my own site off the top spot because I asked a related question in Yahoo-Answers lol.

Ok so the majority think EZA will rank higher for ABC45 even if my blog has title: ABC45 indexed a few days prior to it being found on EZA. It's interesting to see when backlinks (regardless of rank) will overcome EZA's authority. In the perfect world even 1 BL should put you above EZA (if the EZA article has 0-BL's) as this tells Google my ABC45 is more popular.

    • I've never managed to outrank my own site with a syndicated article, but I've heard of this happening many times. The larger article sites, like EZA, most likely have GoogleBot trawling them constantly, so there's a good chance they'll pick up your article on their before your site.

I would try and make sure Google indexes your version before syndicating. That way it should be clear yours was the original version of the article.
  • Google will rank the version it thinks is the canonical version.

  • no canonical has nothing to do with it; canonical is for choosing which page should rank within pages of the SAME site.

Here Google will use various factors including links, so even though your page is ranked first, EZA may outrank it later.
  • I'm gonna test it and let you guys know.

I'll use a longtail title that will get me (or GoArticles) first place, something like "how to search the internet at night" lol. I'll also make sure it is indexed on my site first. Once I'm indexed I'll then see who's 1st and if it's not my site I'll keep adding backlinks from relatively low PR (1-3) sites to see what happens.
