How does the Channels work in Adsense?

I have two websites right now that I have adsense on. I am creating several more, but I don't understand how to decifer where the clicks are coming from. Someone told me to st up "Channels" in Adsense, but how does that work? I mean, basically, what I am doing is setting up niche websites with wordpress that all look the same cosmetically except for some pictures and content, but in my adsense account I have the same ad code I am using. They go in the same location on each website. The colors are already the same, so how can I tell what website the clicks are coming from?

Do I have to set up a new seperate ad unit/link for each website or does the "Channels" do that for me? Basically I want to use the same ad design for each website, the colors and setting are the same, but I also want to be able to tell where the clicks are coming from so I can focus and expand on the winners. Google, of ourse, doesn't explain this very well. Please help a newbie out!

Thank you,

Adam

  • Adam,

You need to set up Adsense for each website.
As you go thru the process of setting up your adsense block it gives you the option of setting a channel. Simply pick a name for this channel. You can have many channels and this lets you find out which block of adsense is getting the most clicks on a page.

For example you can have channels called

    mysite.com336x280
    mysite.com468x60

Go and set up an adsense block now and watch carefully for where it asks you to assign a channel to the code.
