disappearing backlinks ?

Hi all,

Has anyone noticed backlinks start to disappear? According to MS, my site's backlinks gradually increased to 177 up to last week, but as of today, the number of backlinks is down to 137 :confuseda steady decrease on the graphs). Also, I had 50 .edu/.gov backlinks, but now it's down to 41.

Has anyone else had this problem, or could at least give me some advice ?

  • I have noticed lil bit.. but my site isnt so popular to notice huge difference..but it seems backlink decreases as we dont get clicks from the site.. ..could be.. nt sure..Please post if u get some answers..
  • My site usually ranks around 200 or so for a search on Google for my keyword. Ironically my site always ranks #1 on Yahoo..go figure

    • Where do you see that the backlinks disappear? is it it google webmaster tool or for example using yahoo site explorer?

  • I too use MS. My number of backlinks started to decrease about a week ago. Also the number of pages indexed on my site decreased also. Then 2 days ago the number of pages on my website indexed by yahoo dropped. On 27th I had 108. On 28th I had 66 on 29th I am back to 108. BUT the absolute best news is my website today shows as PR2!!! YEAH BABY. Everybody show me some love as the newbie is making progress.

    • Well big congrats to you and the improvement! Hopefully, as a newbie too, i'll somehow be able to show some improvement someday:confused:. How old is your website? After a month, my site still hasn't been able to stay about #200 in google.

      You went up in page rank as well, but do you know when google updates the page ranking? I'd like to know if my site will ever get above PR0..
