Say I post an article on Ezine articles so I get one back link.

If I post 10 articles is this counted as 10 back links or is it just one link from that domain still?

Q
#links #site

It could be counted as 10, so yes better than one, and Ideally you want to vary your anchor text on your links to target your site's keywords...

Maybe. Maybe not. This is one of those things that needs to be proven before anyone can seriously believe an opinion.

1 = 10 . You get only one point from Google . NO more

If you post 10 links from site A to site B, it depends on whether you post them from the same page on site A or different pages, and whether the links have different or the same anchor text.
    • If from the same page with same anchor text, some search engines may count this as one link, for "relevance" flow calculations.
    • If from the same page with different anchor texts, you're sending some "relevance" for different terms. The total would be either 10/N or 1/N (where N is the total #outlinks) in different search engines.
    • If from different pages with the same anchor text, all search engines count that as 10 links and all "relevant" for ranking for the term in the anchor text.
    • Similarly, if from different pages with different anchor text, all search engines count that as 10 links but each link is "relevant" for ranking for a different term.
Notice I said "relevance", not PR. PR flows independently from "relevance". Calculating the amount of PR that flows from A to B is complicated and depends on which pages you place the out links.

10 links is better than 1 if you need traffic... but as for google, I think it has no effect unless you have different anchor..

Here is a very good tool that would let you see the number of links and the quality..
    Backlink analyzer

There is a lot of misinformation that goes around about this. The truth is that Google will credit you for more than 1 backlink per site, depending on the factors that Joe118 has outlined above.

Google has credited me with multiple backlinks from the same sites on more than one occasion, and about half of the folks here have built their businesses on Google's willingness to credit more than 1 link per site.

I would definitely go for the 10 links and have always felt that it was better than just one link.
