Which is a better backlink: Profile Links in a Forum or a Comment Link on a blog post?

I am undecided, they both have some good and bad parts to them. I am very new to SEO, but it would seem to me that the comment link would have a better chance of staying around longer. The reason I think that is because I have posted comments on some blogs a long time ago and they are still there. Recently I did a few of Angela's Backlinks on some forum profile links and they have been removed, and yes I waited 6+ days before I put in my links after I set-up the profile.

I think that profile links are great, but very time consuming to do and if thats all you are there for, it will eventually get found out and your profile will be erased.

I think with comments, at least the blog post that is being commented on will be archived in the blog for people to search. Therefore will at least still be a backlink.

I am looking at this for websites I am building that I will be selling within a few months and for websites I am keeping. Which type should I put more effort in to see results faster? And which one would give greater long lasting results?

Thank you,

Adam

We all know how popular the Mashable Social Media Guide site is right?

On New Year's Eve, I posted a comment on their article about how Facebook was planning to introduce their Virtual Currency model in 2010. This was a pretty hot topic too ~ it had over 5,000 comments. What surprised me was how FAST Google indexed my posted Comment and how quickly (under 30 minutes) this backling was listed on Page 1 (position 2) of Google.

Since I use the Alexa Sparky Tracking add-on, I'm able to see my Alexa Score in a snap. I was surprised this single comment I posted, reduced my Alexa score by 10,000 in less than 1/2 hour, although to be honest, I'm not 100% sure this single action was responsible for this entirely, but since all this happened in the same 1/2 hour, it stands to reason, if you post a Comment on an Authority site and you use full anchor text code vs. the normal http / Url routine, you'll get some nice backlink juice and KW juice at the same time.

I got so fired up about this technique, I whipped up a quick YT video on it as well. Quite a few guys recommend using Angela's backlink service and while I'm sure its worth the investment, I find that since the Market Samurai tool lists the Top 10 websites by SEO score/rank, I can find the best sites on my own to get high PR site to Comment on.

Personally I would try to go for both if possible. I do however prefer signature links on webmaster friendly forums over random blog posting. As forums seem to be more stable if you go to the right place.
