Hi SEO people,

I have been hearing more and more that commenting on blogs for your own sites and bookmarking from your own ip address and social networking accounts may be frowned upon by the SE's. Google and other SEs can detect this in their algorithms if they want to. This is basically building your own backlinks.

So I thought to start a little network here where anyone interested at the Forum could create quality backlinks for for each other via commenting and bookmarking. I know there are some paid services out there that offer this, but at least this would be free for us.

My idea would be to start with (and then rinse and repeat) sending you a list of 10 blogs with the "keyword luv" plugin and that have some Pagerank juice (PR 2+) for me to comment on for me. I would also comment for you on these blogs. In case you don't know, "keyword luv" blogs allow keyword rich anchor text and automatically approve comments. This doesn't mean you can spam them, because they will be deleted if you do this.

We each have to write decent comments (meaning they are somewhat relevant and not profane or salesy). They can be only 2-5 sentences each. We can give each other the keywords to use as anchor texts. By the way posting on relevant blogs (relevant to your own site) is better but not entirely necessary. Google still sees non relevant backlinks as credible links, but likely do not carry as much "link juice" as relevant ones.

We can also do this by the way with social networking sites. I am getting tired of bookmarking my own stuff!

Post here or PM me if you are interested.

  • While it seems like a good hearted plan, Threads or ideas like this rarely work for the better.
Many people have niche sites that they wouldn't want revealed to others. There's also the case of someone getting his website bookmarked by fellow members without returning the favor.

    • Man..that's pretty negative.

Well in response to the above comment...if you have any fears, then PM me privately and I would be glad to comment and/or bookmark for you first, and then you can return the favor. We can do 5 or 10 at a time so there is little risk of either one of us wasting our precious time.

  • There is a nice service already doing this, its a free WSO somewhere, think its called social adr (I'm not affiliated with them).

    • We can pull this even longer; how about creating link wheel for each other.
Let say, 10 people join, send html codes with preferred source and instructions to each member. Zimsalabim, 10 different IP`s ...

  • I tried this with another member and he not only stole my idea for business but is now really competing with me. This is not my hobby and a real business with store front and now he is trying to top my online marketing. There are unfortunately too many shady people on this forum and others to share your information with. I would highly suggest not doing this as it's caused me nothing but problems.

    • I am wondering how this guy could really steal your entire business just by him doing some bookmarking and commenting for you? Even if he starts competing with you, he has to be a better marketer, which is what it's all about. But I am sorry that this happened. Please comment.

I wanted to add that everyone who is interested in participating should get an onlywire account (free at onlywire.com) if they don't already have one. It takes about an hour to setup one time (just use the same usernames and passwords). Then all we need to do is click one button (the onlywire button) on eachother's sites/posts and our content will be bookmarked by about 30 high PR sites, all coming from an IP address that is not our own and bookmarking accounts that are also not our own.
  • Ok...anyone interested, I am going to contact so keep em' coming!

@Franco - Wow, that's a pretty cool. It also contradicts what a lot of people think about search engines -.-' Lol

Someone PM me, and tell me the details!

    Thanks!

  • Blog comments are now being targeted by Google - so this is a "small win" already as an idea for the time and effort involved.

I did mention a way to get social bookmarks quickly up the thread but nobody reacted. You can lead a horse to water and all that....

Finally, I agree to an extent on the IP address thing, my testing is finding little evidence that lots of links from a single IP range makes any difference, but then I am sure others will say they have found it does. So don't go too mad, but don't panic if you have more than one link on a single site seems to be the current best advice.

  • Well I think you may be underestimating Google and their power. First of all I didn't create this idea myself. I have been hearing a lot about it in the SEO world. I am not saying you can't create a bookmarking account ,let's say at DIGG and then DIGG your own content. What I am saying is that there are limits to this. If you create multiple accounts (let's say under different aliases), you would have to be very consistent at using proxies DIGG would see multiple accounts being created and/or used from the same IP address. So it is pretty lame to just keep bookmarking your own stuff. As far as with Google, who knows what kind of records they keep on your activity, and it is possible that large bookmarking sites like DIGG, Propeller, Facebook, etc. give Google access to their logs and important info, VERY LIKELY! Google has a lot of leveraging power.

But if you insist on voting for all your own material, then go ahead....no one is stopping you!
  • How much is onlywire?
