in google i had a great teacher for ppc.... i can take almost any project and find keywords still very very cheap.... in fact thats how i make 3-1 4-1 returns.... a good offer, decent landing page, and good adds... i am going to use a real life example and state the issue in a sec... I did a world of warcraft guide once.... on google was paying 5-10c a click at the time..... and now im paying about 10-15c in same niche... i wanted to expand to yahoo.... but the words i was using in google are over 40c a click.... no more porfit there........ and i tried to search for cheaper clicks in yahoo... but for some reason i cant find a way to do that effectively... any idea's or pointers... and as a bonus if someone can get my clicks in my new niche down to X ammount on yahoo i will teach them how to get there google keywords down to rock bottom and still convert.. Hope to hear from somone shortly

  • Yahoo is very broken. Probably an exercise in futility.

  • Yahoo is pretty worthless and expensive for me too.

I just set up a Bing account a few days ago, very few clicks from the exact same add that gets me lots in Google.
  • google makes me angry alot... with under review and them not telling me what i do wrong when i do it.... but i dont want to pay yahoo's 40c per click for a 40 dollar offer when i have some as low as 7c with google... just not worth it /cry the only reason im trying yahoo hosting was to get there free credits to advertise with.... and 50 to google so overall profit ... maybe even a few sales from yahoo......
  • I know exactly how you feel with Google. I honestly don't even like Google, I moved on to bing and they've been the best experience I've had so far. Clicks at a minimum start at 0.05 cents so yeah, totally go with Bing as it's less populated than Google, but you'll get your money's worth!

    • Yeah bing sounds good... but im never leaving leaving google i dont think... just branching out... google is a pain... but at the end of the day i get the most traffic and at a good price if i do my research... cant really complain.. sigh....

    • Hey, actually when I first used bing it was just with a test...so overall with 2 days I had gotten 300 impressions with $5 (as I said it was just a test). Right now I'm actually like using Bing and not testing. The average CPC for "weight loss" would be 0.05 if you were using a $5 budget type of test lol, and that's the minimum. It just determines on how much you want to spend, plus they have a neat estimating tool so you can see how much your average cpc would be.
  • i will admit google has something right with quality score... i search one key term for weightloss... netflix add was on there.... WTF FAIL

    • Hi Cecille20, nice to hear you are doing well and I am not, please can you give any advice to a PPC newbie like me?

  • Yahoo is the worst PPC out there.

I find them very disorganized and very restricting in how you want to run and test your ads.

They don't have the broad or exact match capability compared to Adwords, and you can' use the same keywords in another adgroup in Yahoo, which I find to be the most annoying thing.

The thing that pissed people off is the continually prepared that you are automatically set up upon signing up, which you can't even edit in your account, but you have to contact them to disable the continually billing from your fund is zero.

You thought Adwords was giving everybody a hard time, screw YAHOO!!!
  • > They don't have the broad or exact match capability compared to Adwords

They do. It's under Tactics and they call it Advanced (equivalent of broad) and Standard (equivalent to phrase and exact). Maybe MrShades could look into that to improve his YSM campaign.
  • Yahoo is too expensive, Google is better.
  • Yahoo just needs to be worked differently than Google. Test, Test, Test. Lately Yahoo has been returning some great conversion rates in some niches... especially the IM niche.

Bing delivers great conversions for age related illness products. (MSN was a baby boomer hang out)
  • It is important to test each place based on niche. Each has a different return in each niche. To arbitrarily use one or the other is ineffective.

Also using only one source of PPC is dangerous, especially if the one source is ban crazy Google.
  • I've been doing PPC for many years now and turned Yahoo off about 2 years ago. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst competitor. You may have luck with Bing though as the prices compare to that of google but Bing has very low volume. D: Good Luck!
  • i cant even get clicks for popular terms searched tons a month... my impressions are just tiny on yahoo.... google i am doing great..... bing so far has had more clicks then yahoo... and more impressions... at cheaper cost per clicks.... for some reason still not as low as google but 1000 times better then yahoo

epc in neverblue 2-3 times over how much the pay per click... i have some up to 40 times higher... low cost per clicks.... decent landing page... and products that you know convert... let others do the work while you outmarket them.

epc in other networks means cost per 100 impressions.... so a little more math is needed but not by much

Just my 2c but EPC should stand for Estimate Per Click like neverblue... not Estimate per 100 clicks.... just confusing to those who dont know and honest threw me the first time i saw it.. i started at neverblue
  • All in all, if you're needing clicks: go with Google
and if you need impressions: go with Bing...though I've had great experience with Bing in which it may be awhile before I turn back to Google lol.
  • Yahoo Search is like having to take a step back in time.
