Commenting on Article Directories for backlinks?

Maybe this is a simple question, but, is gaining backlinks by commenting on related articles in your niche in article directories as powerful as commenting on related niche blogs and sites?

I believe it's more powerful, but I haven't seen it mentioned in the past.

Anyone like to add to this and clarify this for me?

Thanks

  • Can you give an example of some directories you were able to comment on and leave links?

    • Sure. Take any article from Ezine articles. Next to the article word count, you can click on "comments", and make your comment, looks like you can leave your site url too.
  • I've done that with EZA, however they will still review the comments and it goes through an approval process. I saw a post where a marketer suggested this technique for backlinks, but I didn't see anything from it. And you don't want to spam it if you do. Don't do a bunch in one day. I figure if I'm gonna go through the trouble of leaving a comment, I might as well write a real article, gain a lot more from the SEO and backlinks.

    Hope this helps.
  • Sure if the links are do follow. the way I do comment to build backlinks is with DoFollow Diver - The Premier DoFollow Blogs Search Engine

and I do a search for relevant blogs. Pretty straight forward
  • for me the best way to gain traffic is to comment on other niche blogs, apart from that writing articles within your niche and hyperlinking some log tail comments within the article is the best thing for you, having to go through the process of leaving a comment on EZA is a total waste of time, and its in no way a guarantee to gaining backlinks
  • Most comment style links are pretty low value, more so since Google announced it would be scrutinising blog comment spam more closely.
  • Of course it is, the more comments you have about your site , of course good ones, the more popular it will be.
  • Didn't heard for this method till now, i used only blog commenting.
  • That's a good idea.So I could also comment on bookmarketing.

    • Cheers guys.

I will test it, and see if it's worth it or not.

That goes for everyone also, anything you find you can do for your business, test it and see if it works for you.
  • Think about it: in the time you will perhaps write 10 comments on 10 different websites, you could write two articles and submit them to EZA.

Those two articles will carry a LOT more weight than 10 blog comments.

Blog commenting is a futile strategy at best. Do a Google search for a top keyword like "**** berry" and see the first few results. Check their backlinks in the Yahoo Site Explorer. You will find that most of their backlinks are NOT from blog comments but from other sites in the same niche/article directories.

leaving comment on eza is a waste of time... I posted 10 long comments in related niches and nothing is approved... better leave your comment in hubpages or niche blogs..

    • Snake's right. I haven't been able to get any positive results from this type of commenting.
