Why do I need to get indexed quickly?

Why is everyone in a rush to get indexed quickly? Can I still build backlinks if my site is not indexed?

    yes, but in order for your site to be successful, you must have backlinks, without them, your site isnt reputable, the more reputable it is, the more popular it will get.

    Of course you can, I did it to my site. Thats how you give your site a kick start. Getting those quality backlinks is what matters, like if you post on lets say ezinearticles, or digg, if your lucky enough to get on diggs front page which has happnened to me before, your site will skyrocket in little time, i had over 9000 uniques that day. Not saying that you 100% will get on diggs front page because its pretty hard to, but building backlinks, you can always do it, even as as in your case that your not indexed. Start getting those backlinks today

    P.S. remember, if your site is new and u all of a sudden miraculously get lets say 1k backlinks in a day, this will not be good with the big G and they could put penalties on ur site
