I am wanting to know if you have a chance of ranking better if you direct a keyword rich domain name to an already existing domain? Do the search engines care if that it is a redirect and not the main domain name? Thanks so much for any info...

they do care about redirects. SEO wise the main URL will be listed way better then the keyword URL since there's nothing really there.

      DarkLour,

So it might be wiser to add a page to the site that includes the keywords and have it come up: www.domainname.com/keywordstatement

      Thank you!

Or I can make a blog with the better domain name and direct it to the site....hmmmm

I read that if you buy an aged domain that hasn't been dropped or backlisted, and do a 301 redirect from that domain to your main domain, it will pass any link juice it has.

I bought a couple aged domains from godaddy auctions and am in the middle of testing to see if it actually does work. Only time will tell.

Make sure you do a 301 Redirect, that way all the link juice power is pass on.

yeah if you just bought the domain and it has no traffic on its own already i don't see it helping much. a 301 as there talking about basically tells search engines that what WAS at that URL before moved to the new URL but that again only helps if the URL was already popular and i would think it only works for abit as a search engine would soon see diffrent content.

As to using it better hmm you could just build something else on that url, while google hates duplicate content yo ucould always reword things.

I mean if things worked great for you you could have 2 sites in top 10 or just one? which would ppl prefer lol.

I mean if someone had 10 sites all in top 10 of there keyword .. who would not like that lol.

    as you said
    www.domainname.com/keywordstatement

thats how i have my sites set up personally
