Hello everyone,

Most of SEO gurus said that backlink from .gov is very valuable. How about backlink from .go.xx? Will google treat it same?

How long average Google will detect baclink to my site?

How about .edu and .ac?

Thank you,
Samuel

You are right, one of the MOST valuable backlinks you can get are .gov and .edu backlinks. This is because these sites are known for high quality and authority since they are govermental sites etc. and have scientific etc. content on them.

So when you get a link from them, they will give you a part of their authority and google will value that to your site. Never herad of .go.xx domains and I can't imagine that you get the same link juice like from edu and gov links. Same for .ac

The time for indexing your site can vary, based on certain factors like crawlability, server response, if you have a site map etc. Head over to Google they provide good articles on that topic.
    thanks for your answer.

Some countries use go.XX where XX is two digit of their country code. I also found some university using .ac.XX

    cheers

If I get backlink from .go.jp (Japan), will Google treat as if I get backlink from .gov?

Some gurus... please share your knowledge.

      thanks,

Well a lot of the issue really depends on the PR of the page! A .gov or .edu is valuable even if it is not from the US and it has the additional country code at the end.

As you must be aware that .GOV sites refer to US Government websites only. However, several internet marketers usually ignore the power behind government websites of other countries. Fact is, that Government websites are considered as authority sites due to their "Official" nature & hence getting a Single backlink from them is definitely better than getting several backlinks from other non-government websites. Further, if you are getting backlinks from websites with multiple extensions, then it will help your site to project itself as more mainstream in character. This is sure to boost your ranking, not just in index of Google but also in other country specific indexes of Google such as www.Google.xx. (Country Specific Top Level Domain (TLD)).

This situation is kind of analogous to everybody recognizing the power of .EDU backlinks but completely missing out on the power of other country specific educational website backlinks. Consider the following empirical test which draws a comparison between .ac.uk (Educational websites of UK) & .edu (Educational websites of US).

[In case the above link is down then you can access the same page from Google Cache]

To quote the starting two lines from above link:

".EDU links have been a hot topic for a while now, but today we look at the big universities of the UK – thanks to the trusted links they have getting links from .ac.uk domains is a very desirable thing – for anyone inside AND outside the UK market. "

Although I don't have the backing of any such hardcore practical test when it comes to comparison between .GOV & .GOV.XX sites, I have every reason to believe that both of them are in similar league, more or less.
