What is best FREE tool to check rankings?

I like SEMRush - service for competitors research, shows Google organic and AdWords keywords for any site or domain for checking on what keywords my sites ranks for but it is not updated often enough. Any other tools to do this? I know there is at least one where you got to put the words in and see how you are doing but are there sites that will spit out what keywords you are ranking for?

I used the seobook and seoquake but I must be missing where they tell you what keywords you RANK for ... all I am seeing is the keywords density, etc..

Call me old fashioned but I use the Chromium browser. I first set the Google search setting to show me 100 search results. I then press Ctrl+F to open up a little box where I enter my site address and then start searching through 100 search results at a time.

        Works real well.

The only thing I have noticed is that for some reason sites rank differently when I am viewing 10 at a time vs 100 at a time. Not sure why.

Seo Quake was the best that I found. However, none of the sites mentioned have been able to spit out your current keyword ranking UNLESS you first put in the specific keywords you are looking for. SEMrush.com was able to tell you ALL the keywords you are ranking for but their database is not updated enough and it just does not do what it once did IMO.

Traffic Travis is a free all-in-one type of SEO tool that will check your sites rankings for specific keywords.

The only issue is it will only check the top 50 or 100 with the free version. I don't remember since I upgraded to the pro version which does the top 100... which is still a bit limited. I'd prefer the top 1000.

It does all kinds of stuff like checking backlinks and keyword competition n' junk and it's free... can't beat free.

Something I need to check on myself is if it is checking through a proxy since google now has personalized results running no matter if you want them or not.

I just installed a free tool called Rank Checker from SeoBook and even though it is easy to use it just doesn't update correctly. It's quite disappointing.

Seo Quake (firefox) works quite well for me but as previously mentioned, I wish you did not have to plug in all the separate keywords you are going for.

I know what you're looking for, but, I haven't seen anything that does that. I mean, if you know your keywords that you're trying to rank for, you could add all of them to Rank Checker and it'll let you know where your site ranks for them. Pretty simple...

Well, SEMrush used to do this and spyfu does something like this. The reason I wanted to find a site that does this versus putting in your own keywords is due to a site often ranking for MANY other keywords that you were not even aware of.

One way to check what the competitor in the first SERP tried to rank for, I use Jonathan Leger WebCompAnalyst. It will list the anchor texts from the page backlinks, based on Yahoo result.
