Multiple wordpress blogs on one domain

We all know that it can help a sites SEO to install a blog on an html site but I was wondering if anyone had any data about installing multiple wordpress blogs on the same domain.

What I mean is that I build my sites in wordpress but I don't use them as blogs but rather more static sites such as ecommerce sites and sales pages. But I would like to have a blog feature on the site with more of a blog type template. Does anyone know if there are advantages or disadvantages to installing a wordpress blog on another wordpress blog.

  • If you intend using your blog to write loads of keyword rich content to attract long tail search traffic that will then buy from you then go for it.

  • That's the idea but I remember hearing once that it wasn't so great for SEO to install multiple wordpress blogs on the same site. That being said, it never sounded quite right to me so I was wondering if anyone had ever done this and what kind of results they got. Or if anyone had any hard and fast rules on this.
