blogging and being index.

I have set up a new blog site 3 days ago, and I have put on 1 post every day. The site is still not indexed. So, should I stop posting until I have been indexed or will google still see it as fresh content. I hope I worded this right, it's a bit confusing.

Keep posting, you will get indexed. Indexing is even quicker the more often you update content

    Yes, keep posting.

To help get indexed faster, do you have any backlinks pointing to your new blog? Go do some backlinking and it should help.

    build backlinks
    bookmark your posts
    add your site to google

It took 2 days for my blog to index, google wont always index you right away, it will eventually.

I need to do a site map before I do all don't I? Was going to give it a run through social bot and rss bot.

I forgot to take that stupid WP block off the first day of the blog.

I'd also add a privacy page and terms of service page.

  • Yes, get the google XML sitemaps thing

then add it to google and show google where to find your sitemap, which if you do it with wordpress should be www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.XML

I haven't monetized it yet. Does that matter?

Up to you, depends on how you've planned to actually "gain" from this blog or whether it's just going to be pure content with no intent of money.

At the start it doesn't really matter about setting up ways in to which monetize your blog because traffic is scarce, but atleast plan it so that you can put some in place when traffic picks up.

You should hopefully have a newsletter in place also

Continue posting. A new post a day is good. Submit your sitemap.xml to the Google webmaster tools, add your site to Google Analytics and your feed to Google Feedburner.
This will help your site get indexed.

You can keep posting or stop posting until you see your site show up in Google.. in my experience it doesn't matter.

The only thing that matters is that Google is going to index you, you just have to wait. In my personal experience, it takes a full week to 10 days for my blogs to become completely indexed in Google. That is with social bookmarking/articles/directories etc.

So far I haven't had the pleasure of being indexed in 7 and a half minutes like some on this forum claim to have been.

Also, I personally stay away from submitting my URL to Google through their submission page. I would rather let them find it on their own. I doubt it makes any difference, but to me I would just rather that Google finds my site via crawling my links on another site, rather than me the webmaster going to Google myself and asking them to crawl my site.

Another thing I've noticed is, that sometimes Google will "crawl" my new site within a matter of hours, but it will still take a full week-10 days for my pages to actually start appearing in Google.

So if you're seeing Googlebot in your logs, then it might be good if you keep posting, so when you do become indexed, Google will already think that your blog is one that's regularly updated.

I am not rushed to get it indexed, I just didn't want to add new content if it wasn't going to help me rank in the SEs

      1. It usually takes mine about 5 to 7 days to get indexed.

      2. In the meantime, you can post or not, it is your decision and it probably won't make a difference.

      3. It makes no difference if you have monitized or not.

      4. If you want to see if you can poke Google and Yahoo a bit faster, put up a new post and then go to either Digg or Propeller and set up an account and either Digg or Prop your site. The search engines seem to find you faster if you let them naturally follow a back link. Everytime I have submitted to a search engine, it has taken a couple of weeks to get indexed, when I let them find me organically I'm indexed in a few days to a week.

        • Yet Another Related Posts Plugin
        • Sociable
        • Permalinks Moved Permanently
        • Tweet This
Plus submit to rss feeds and pinging using other pingers

Usually will get you indexed within a few hours

        Regards,

OK, I am going to give up one of my secrets. Write an article, 3 to 500 words. Save it in a .doc file. Select your keyword and make a anchor text using that keyword. Publish it on scrib.com. You should be index in a matter of hours. You could also ping it.

      Hi Anna,

I actually do not have the problem of spam from Max Ping Optimizer because it came from a package from Jeff Johnson

I have found that just keeping at it will eventually pay off. Once Google does index your site, and you have updated regularly, Google will begin to index your updates very quickly. It just takes time.

Akismet comes with the default WP download and it is their anti-spam plugin. You need to activate it in order to make it work; and for activation you need an API key that you can obtain by registering at wordpress.COM (not org!). You do NOT need to make a free blog when registering, there is an option for just getting the API Key.

Do I really need the anti spam plug-in, even though I have disabled comments?

Since the spam-bots don't really use your comment form that is visible for humans (i.e. they go around it directly to the comment posting file)... I'd say it doesn't hurt.
Otherwise, even not having visible comments on your blog you can end up with thousands of spam comments in your database.

Cheers for the advice. It seems at every twist and turn of this business there are scamers and spammers lurking in the shadows.
