Keywords in domain question

Using "online" or whatever other phrase at the end won't be as effective as just the keyword itself because it dilutes its relevancy but you can overcome this with heavy backlinks.

If you are going to add a word to the end of the keyword do some research to see what phrase is already being searched on most and obtain that domain. That would be better than just adding a random word on the end.

Try to use any other available domain extensions instead of adding a word...

Well the main keyword gets like 95% of the total traffic for this niche.

Even if it gets like no searches and can I still target the main keyword easy enough?

The keyword is like this:

Main Keyword: 8000+ searches a month 2140 competing sites using "allintitle"
2ndary keyword: 280 searches.....and so on....

If you want to rank well for the keyword "Motorcycle" (just an example), simply register this domain: motorcycle1.com

In a low competition niche, this should be easy. You might also try something like: BestMotorcycle.com, but those are often taken. In almost any niche, people frequently search for "Best (your keyword here)".

Irrelevant when it comes to the strength of competition.

It's shows that it's not a very popular keyword which could be an indication that competition is low but that doesn't tell you what the strength of the top 10 - 20 sites are.

For a keyword that is averaging 8K searches a month... around 200 a day, you're going to need to be in the top 10 if you want to see satisfactory results. It could be you've found something that is a guaranteed seller but if this were the case I'm sure more IMers would have picked up on this niche... cus IMers are like roaches, they are everywhere.

I also don't believe that keyword domains are as important as some others believe but this is something we can go round-n-round arguing about. You're never going to get a definitive answer because so many other elements are involved when it comes to SE rankings.

Pick the domain that works and sound the best for you as a consumer.

If you can't get the .com, go .net or .org or whatever. Everybody has their personal preferences. I'm a .com snob and sometimes I dip into the .net pool but I've never picked up any other tdl. Other guys like .org as a secondary choice. If you're after SE traffic it doesn't make much difference. .com is good for type-in traffic because that is what most people naturally think of.

This is a micro niche, product based as in say "knife holster" or something. It has 8000 searches a month or more according to googles keyword tool.

All the sites in the top 10 are sites like Amazon and Shopping.com along with a blog and Gizmodo post.

Like say this keyword:
allintitle:red microwave oven - Google Search

Over 1000 exact searches a month ^^^

Top sites all look easy to take on that keyword too. This will be a small blog/info site with Adsense and maybe Amazon banners/links.

We've seen hyphenated keyword rich domains work such as my-keyword-online.

I've had no problem with hyphenated domains either, but I'd avoid .infos, .biz etc. the .infos have been spammed to death and I can honestly say that I've only ever seen one or 2 pop up in the results on Google for any search term you care to think of.

I'm sure Matt Cutts posted somewhere that they severely penalised .info domains because of the spamming.

i dont *know*, but i would rather use a stop-word where its known that G ignores them, like to, that, the, a and much more.

I cant see a domain "theviruschecker .com" having less value than "viruschecker.com" or "myviruschecker.com" etc..?

Well the .info .org and .net are taken for this keyword.

So will my domain work okay with keyword-keyword.com?
