How do you make sure your Backlinks get indexed and stay indexed?

I guess it comes down to terminology.

To me, social bookmarking are sites like digg and pretty much every site included in bookmarking demon and/or rssbot.

In the past, when I have sent my profile backlinks through bookmarking demon, I really saw very little added benefit to getting indexed.

Now, BLB does the following (each of these can be turned off if you want):

(1) pings it;
(2) adds it to your RSS feed (so you don't have to create RSS feeds and then resubmit these new feeds to the various aggregators);
(3) sends it through ping.fm, which in turn sends it to something like 47 social networking sites like twitter; and
(4) is integrated with onlywire, if you want to social bookmark.

I actually have #4 turned off right now, so I don't even do the social bookmarking.

What has been key for me is #3. In particular, there about about 12 sites in that list which consistently show up for me in google searches. At the top of this list are twitter, identi.ca, utterli, brightkite, streetmavens, vox, livejournal, youare and posterous. In the last month, i've had 3000 new pages indexed on my BLB vox site, each of which points to a separate profile backlink

So, yes, BLB is a way of adding backlinks to your other backlinks, but they really aren't anything like profile backlinks themselves. I.E., google loves to crawl these sites within a few minutes of you posting on them.

With some profile backlinks, they are actually showing up in Google within 5 minutes of me boosting them, and I can guarantee that would never happen on their own, or with conventional social bookmarking.

P.S. In addition, with the consistent RSS feed, you could do stuff like drop feed this RSS feed through various blogs of yours, for even more backlinking. I currently do this with 2 of my sites that I really don't care about. If you wanted to really have some fun, you could set up a large number of sites each on a different C-class IP, each with its own RSS drip feed.
