A quick question About Keywords

Hi everyone,
I have been reading all the great posts on this forum,and it has really helped me to take action!

I would really appreciate a little help with one question.

I built a website some months back.I did the keyword research for the first time,so I did not do it quite correct and came up with a keyword and build my site(including domain name)around it.
Now after getting a little more wiser in keyword research I see that I may not be able to rank high for this keyword.

However I discovered another keyword which has around 1600 searches/month(google keyword tool) and I can get the exact keyword in my domain name with a .com domain.

My question is: is it possible to have my site with content(the one with the wrong keyword) have this domain name?

I am not sure if I am clear in my question,but if I am ,I would love your advise on that.

I don't want to start from scratch with a new site in the same niche.

    Sure ... just add on the domain to your hosting and then move the site to the new domain. You will have to change urls in the database and other places in the blog, if it is a blog.

  • Google 'moving a blog to a new domain' and you will find instructions how and where to make those database and other changes in the blog.
  • Thank you for your answers.I was thinking of google,but did not know exactly what to google since my doubt was pretty long.

  • Yeah, a 301 redirect of each page. Otherwise, you could probably just do a redirect of the domain url, keeping both.

    I would think that a 301 redirect would be "best" though.

  • yes, 301 redirect is the best, if you do it you will not lose visitors and will not lose your ranks
  • I think you have to change your domain and content. It will be confusing for your visitors if you have a different content than your keywords niche. And it will be hard for you to get a decent traffic
