HELP!! Different Keywords For Every Page

Hi Guys
I am about to set up a new website which will be offering several quite different products from the same sort of niche, and I hope the purchasers of one service will be tempted to buy some of the other services on. It seems to me that I will need to optimise the individual pages of the web site for the key words (normal 3 Ithink) that are appropriate for the product or service on that particular page, but when I spoke to someone the other day about this, they said that this would not work, and it was better to optimise the whole site for the same keywords. I am a little doubtful if this approach would work either, as there would be too many keywords I would be trying to target.

I would really appreciate some guidance on this.

You can easily target a number of keywords on a single website, but it gets harder when you try to target the same page for a number of keywords, your better off sticking to 1 page / 1 keyword, which makes everything a lot easier, as you can target the keyword using the title/URL easily, unlike when trying to target a number of keywords on the same page.

Go with your first thought. A separate page for each will allow you to do a better job of optimizing for each particular key phrase. I assume they are all related?

What seems to work best for me is a main page with a mixture geared towards the main keyword and then a separate page optimized for each supporting key phrase for the niche I am going to target. An advantage of this method is if you want to add some more supporting keywords later on you can just add another page.
