What I'm Doing Wrong? Is This Google (Break)Dance?

Hi all,

I'm quite confused and this thing is killing my motivation, so I thought I could ask here. I've searched forums and read other "backlinks" topics but can't find any answer to my question. (Yes it's backlinks again!)

I published my niche blog and been working on link building. I bought several WSOs (Angela's, Paul's, others) and I know I should give it a time before seeing the results. But, I think I may be doing something wrong somewhere.

My keywords (two seperate keywords, not a phrase indeed) are in my domain name. When I type these two terms in search together, Google shows my website on Page 1.

When I'm working on backlinks, I create anchor text using a specific keyword phrase (this is not the one in my domain name). Problem occurs at this point. Google doesn't show my website in results which are related to my anchor text keyword. Is this normal?

Example, datingtips (dot) com is on Google page 1 but when I search "love letters" (anchor text I linked and leave at lots of websites) my site doesn't show in results.

Shouldn't I focus on one specific keyword phrase while doing backlinks?

Or, how much time does it take to show on Google searches? Again, I know it takes some time but even when my site is on page 1?

Thanks in advance

Yes, this is very normal. Most sites will rank for domain name first. It takes some time to build up enough backlinks for Google to figure out that the anchor text it what you really should be ranking for.

If you're going for a keyword that's not in your domain you might have to wait a little longer to get ranked for it. Make sure you're targeting that phrase on the page fairly well too.
