Twitter Page Rank

I just had a bizarre experience. I went to prchecker and found that my blog had a PR of zero. Well, that's nothing new - my blog has always sat in the basement as far as page rank regardless of traffice, back links, etc.

So then on the same site I checked my twitter page, i.e. twitter.com/mypagename. And here's the bizarre thing: I had a page rank of 6!

So my first question is this: can you have a legitimate page rank on a twitter page since it's not really a domain?

And, if so, why doesn't Google at least somewhat match my site up with my twitter page as far as page rank?!? I mean they should at least be reasonably close in number I would think, especially since my Twitter page is primarily about my web site!

  • I don't have an answer for you but I noticed a while ago that, unlike facebook and myspace profiles, Twitter profiles do carry their own page rank.

    You can tell by surfing through a few different profiles. You will see that each one has its' own unique page rank. Twitter pages appear to G as subfolders within a normal website. These can and do carry their own page rank although they are not domains. Subdomains also carry their own.


    Can it be passed on? Sculpted? Exploited? Those things I don't know.

      Yeah, the sad part is if I had a page rank of 6 on my blog, I could probably sell a few links. But on twitter, all I'm going to get is an "atta boy!"....
  • My Twitter is a 5 BTW...my business partner who uses his blog about once a month(now a 3) and his Twitter is a 4.

    Strange actually, but hey Twitter does give a bunch of new content on a consistent basis.
  • PR - Is just that Page Rank, not domain rank... Besides that PR means nothing so personally I would not worry about wasting my time checking. Just spend that time building more backlinks..

  • It's also worth noting that links on your Twitter page are all nofollow links, so you are not going to get any benefit of the PR from that page passing on to the links in your tweets or in your profile.
