Keyword phrase 'not enough data' for local search, but low competition?

Encouraged by the helpful answer I got last time I'm going to ask another thick question.

I found a keyword phrase with 60,000 global monthly search and very low advertiser competition, but the local search volume shows 'not enough data'. Is the keyword phrase good or bad?

Thanks,
and apologies if that's a really dumb question.

    Hey amunt...

It is not a thick question ... You should see some of the questions I ask .... haha

But one thing I have noticed is that keyword research data can be a little inaccurate... The difficult thing is, that you don't want to become too attached to the keyword or phrase because you "may have a hunch" it may produce results...

I have done this and have found that most of the time, these keywords/phrases don't give me great results.... So you have to think that you are putting a lot of time into generating traffic to these keywords and if they don't have traffic coming to them... well you are flogging a dead horse.

What I would do, if you have a hunch is keep that keyword and promote it. But find some other keywords that have a bit more traffic, I would say a minimum of 2000 searches per month..

I would like to see how you went with the keyword you are thinking of using.

That is if you use it of course...

    Keep me posted...

    Tas.

A few weeks ago, I would have said to leave it alone because of the lack of search volume. Now though, I hold the number 1 spot for a few keyword phrases that get just a few searches a day, but bring me pretty regular sales as the phrase is very much a 'buying' term. It was actually by accident that I ranked for this term and all the keyword tools(Adwords, Micro Niche Finder etc) say 'not enough data'.

If it's a term you think can bring in some money, I say go for it - because most people will see the 'not enough data' and not bother with it, which means low competition

OK, that's great thanks. What I don't quite get is why the 'local' search volume has any bearing at all. Aren't you just interested in the overall, i.e. 'global' searches that you can get?
