SEO Ranking reports - What do you use to make them ? ?

Hey,

I am trying to find the best easiest way to send my clients SEO ranking reports. I find that the excel exports from Market Samurai are not presentable to send directly to clients. I do use the Market Samurai for a lot of my seo work but in order for the reports to be presentable I would have to make a custom excel sheet with custom rules.

So what I have been using to make my reports for now is IBP (I business promoter) and they make very nice reports... but it seems to take hours for the program to get all the ranking data for 60 keywords and it crashes all the time.

What do you use to send your clients nice ranking reports? Do you use Market Samurai? if you do how do you display the data to make it look presentable to a client ?

Thanks for your help,
David

I used to work for a pretty big agency, we used IBP therehttp://www.ibusinesspromoter.com/. It's what I currently use as well.

Very easy to use and cranks out some impressive looking reports.

I've used the free ranking report checker at SEOBook.com. I agree with @Riverwire on this one, it's not very accurate. If you do use it for a client, be prepared to manually check each result before sending it out.

There's also a ranking report tool with the SEOMoz membership. Although, the number of keywords you can search per day is pretty limiting.

I actually got the premium version at $450 but i find that its paid for its self in no time because of the time it saves, It's quite literally cut my work load by around 60% , That 60% of which can now be used to take on more clients.

But i understand that it is a large lump sum to stump up right away with out any proof it would give you what you need. I took the risk and for me it was worth it but ive also heard that other people think its a waste of money so i guess its down to the individual company/person.

As for Market Samurai i wouldnt know im afraid.

I use WebCEO does lots of great reports, don't think you can brand them with the free version but worth checking out. Very good tool.

I agree with dotslash. WebCEO is probably one of the best automatic seo reporting tools out there at the moment.

This one is good as well and you can also brand it as your own:
    mastersitemanager.com

Because I'm now pretty busy with a good number of clients now (thank god for that), I tend to use auto-reporting tools (now WebCEO) but I kinda liked creating a monthly report with excel manually as I use market Samurai as well. If you export the data from MS and compile it quickly, it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes... and that's all I did for a monthly report, nothing fancy. This way, you can make it look more in your favor (you can delete some unnecessary/not-so-nice-to-look-at data) so that a client feels good and will be willing to pay for the next month (I normally send an invoice with a monthly report). ...but of course I never manipulate the data - that's no, no, needless to say.

Now, providing a good report is one thing...but dropping a couple of quick emails/calls a week to your client is something more important than just one monthly report in my opinion. At the end of the day, what we want is our clients to trust us fully and that can be achieved through consistent communications with them in a friendly manner. If you can call them just to say hi and give them a quick update for the rankings (i.e. hey Jack, I just noticed that your site ranking has jumped right up to the 9th position from 32 for the keyword xxxxx... This is pretty exciting so i wanted to let you know right away!)

When you do this kinda stuff on a regular basis, your client will know you are doing a good job therefore he/she starts to trust you more. ...and this will lead you to an ongoing "long-term" relationship with them and "word-of-mouth" effect will kick in too.

    Anyway, it's my 2 cents...

@dotslash - Thank you, I have Used WebCEO in the past and preferred IBP ... but i think it is about time i take another look at WebCEO.

@Michi Kono - Yes you are %100 right and i do my very best to email my clients 1-2 times a week if possible. - I agree maby i should play around with the raw data Market Sam gives and create a report from that if other things are not working so great. - I am happy to hear that business is going good (going good here aswell : ) just started with a few new clients .

    Thanks.

If you guys have any more tips i look forward to your posts .

This conversation will seem silly once you try the rank checker from SEObook. I produce beautiful reports for my websites using this tool and it is free.

 Apart from it not being accurate half the time what else does it offer than an Exported CSV file ? Its free for a reason im afraid , although its a good little tool for on the spot quick checks though out the day its not accurate enough to actually compile a report for a client .

    mastersitemanager seems interesting.
I prefer sheerseo though for automatic rank checking and link tracking.

SEO powersuite produces VERY nice reports. I own a copy of website auditor and it's great for presenting to clients. Thinking of getting rank tracker just for the nice reports
