I know people outsource it but lets assume you don't, how would you make it fun? I hate it, it is so boring and makes it feel like it takes 3 times longer then anything else. So heres the question, how do you make your backlinking fun

Change up the type of links you are doing on a daily or even hourly basis. I post some in forums, blog comments, blog myself, link swap, podcast, make videos etc.

If you aren't doing any 1 thing for too long of a time period, it doesn't become too boring.

Some people are able to do it for a couple of hours a day without worrying too much, others are limited to about 30 minutes before they want to pull out their hair!

    Outsource it

...backlinking gets fun when you're ranking near #1 and you keep at it for 1 year.

    I mix it up.

I'll add links to the 20 sites I signed up for last week and then sign-up for 20 new ones.

Then go on a blog commenting spree which can be pretty fun when you're in the mood to leave idiot comments. Celebrity sites are good for having some silly fun or starting a flame war.

In-between all of that I'll take a peek at the IMers who might have beaten me to a site and reverse engineer their stuff and look for new golden nuggets. Every month their is this sudden burst of 30 new sites that everybody starts using... I wonder what that is all about :p

Aside from that, there is always writing or tweaking WP themes, creating a new site, updating content, reading and leaving lots of comments on WF, checking my stats and rankings every 20 minutes and seeing if I made my $.30 for the day.

I agree, this IM stuff is brain dead boring at times.

Beer and backlinks, the perfect combination. Other recreational endeavors can also help make it fun if laws permit in your area.

Watch TV while doing it. See if you can sign up for a whole profile without looking at your computer screen more than once. Do it in 5 minute increments while doing housework in between. Kill two birds with one stone. I also talk on the phone while typing away, mother can be quite the talker...

And like Jason said, checking your rankings and earnings every 8 minutes is a great way to pass time and become frustrated over and over again. So much fun.

Wow, goes to show people have different tastes. I love backlinking and keyword research while music is on in the background. What I hate is writing articles. It is so boring to me. I have to outsource it or else I'd go crazy.

I keep the music going! But it's good to have breaks or just vary things a bit. I just did some blog posts for half an hour, and then a few backlinks before checking out the forum. Having some music certainly gets you through the boring bits!

      best wishes,

      Jon.

I don't really enjoy backlinking or article writing, but I find it alot easier by just setting goals, I aim to spend x amount of hours per week backlinking, I do this by producing a time table for my time, that way you can measure the time you've spent and the time you have left to do also allowing your time to be used effectivly. It's much better to spend 3 productive hours then 5 unproductive hours doing this in my opinion. I find doing 2 hours or so before working on something else is often best for me.

What I try to do aswell is find some different music each time to keep me going, for example i'm currently on youtube just listening to a bon jovi playlist, that way I don't have to have many windows open on my computer to get distracted. (again being productive)

Also try working at various times in the day, for example I find it easier to produce articles and do this kind of work late at night before bed. Leaving the day time for programming and talking to clients etc.

Hope this helps. :-) I look forward to reading how other people do this aswell :-)

i would also recommend changing it up and randomly doing it. Take regular breaks and set lots of small goals each time you build.

why would you not just outsource it?

Your right back links are boring and that take ages, so why not pay someone else to worry about it whilst you focus on doing what you do best.

I know you think you are saving money but really it's just costing you money.

But if your heart is set on doing it all yourself (you seriously shouldn't) then get a tool like senuke or brute force seo to help out.

Go to blogs that we like!
Then join them by post our comment.Honestly
it`s feel really bored if we go to
blogs just for make up our backlinks.

If they have a good design,
    and good post,you`ll aware that
make up backlinks is really interesting!

For the most part it isn't fun. The easiest way to get through is to outsource it, use automation or to take small breaks.

I generally try to take a break every couple of hours.

Also, when it comes to blog commenting, try finding blogs that are on topics you have a genuine interest in. This way you'll be more engaged on the topic and you'll give a better comment that is less likely of being rejected.
