Google Adwords Question

Does quality score apply with banner ads? Do they still look at the words your targeting and then check your landing page? I'm guessing they do, but not sure because its a different ballgame then text ads.

    Frankly I don't really know, however it is a known fact that text rules. I don't bother with banners. Text ads have a record of out performing banners. That's a fact.

      Google has some their own secret formulas to measure quality that appear to be based on Revelance. And to Google, content and quality go hand-in-hand - that's why many short, bullet point, squeeze pages get low quality score. With a low quality score, Google will either close you down or force you to raise your bids - usually to a point it doesn't make economical sense.

      Also included in their formula are backlinks. So a web page with content (blogs, articles, etc.), which are keyword rich, with backlinks, will get a high quality score. Also the more your ad copy match the searched key words, the better your quality score.

      By the way, they won't tell you what wrong with your site when you do get a bad score. That's why I call it a secret formula.

      Banner ads are based on the content network. I think google can check the landing page for a quality score rating but they're lenient on the content network. Just make sure the landing page is relevant to the keywords you're targeting.

      I've never used banner ads before but i will be testing some campaigns soon.

        I will certainly match the pages landing pages to keyword themes I'm targeting, because I'm sure google (even on the content network) is smart enough to keep somewhat of an eye on that.
