Site URL variations!

There are lots of discussions on this but...

I have noticed that when I see my site on Google the url displayed on the result is 'www.domain123.info'

but when I go to the actual homepage it is displayed as http://www.domain123.info

So which would you use in your linking process?

Hi Branlan17,

If you mean anchor text then you should use neither, use your targeted keywords instead.

If you are asking about the href attribute then you must use a validly formatted URL. (http:// www . yourdomain . com/)

  You must include the "http://" in your hotlinks to external documents that aren't specified in your BASE element or they won't resolve properly. There are some CMS platforms that will correct this automatically. If you aren't using a CMS that does this for you then you must do it yourself.
  
  Again, this doesn't apply to your anchor text, just the "href" attribute.

Hi WareTime,

I disagree with your assessment.

The OP is referring to the display URL, which is technically the anchor text and not the actual href value. While he could have canonicalization issues, there is nothing he said that would indicate that. He is asking if the displayed URL (anchortext) is okay for the href attribute in an anchor tag. Canonical issues are a totally different set of issues altogether.

Yes you've canonical option to solve this issue through google webmaster tools.
