Why doesn't Google show any links to my site?

My website has been up for a few months and have around 17 backlinks to date using article marketing. Yahoo shows all 17 but Google doesn't show any and I'm not listed in the Google SERPS but I am indexed.

Any ideas on what might be happening here? Sandboxed?
Thanks in advance.

  • As a general rule google does not show most of your links. I would bet a fairly large amount of money that there is not way you age getting any kind of penalty for 17 links. A number that small would not trip any kind of trigger that I have even heard anyone talk about.
  • Google is never a good tool to check your backlinks!

If you use the site: operation in google it often shows none even if you have hundreds, but then if you search for the content you created then it's indexed... google is strange so stick with yahoo for checking your backlinks

  • For some reason Google never shows your total backlinks, and sometimes not even one. I think it's twofold:

    1. They don't want everyone going after the same links as their competitors to try to skew the search results.

    2. By not showing links it helps keep their algorithm a bit more of a mystery because you don't know what links they count and have indexed for your site. If that makes sense.
