  • Header Tags, bold tags, keyword density, Latent Semantic Indexing, robots.txt file, Google Webmaster Tool.

And also for future SEO, I believe loading times and file names may play a part too.

    • I thought keyword density is a myth .
  • user accessibilityn is important too
  • Social media included in on-page optimization techniques?
Also, Contextual links is another good way of building relevant links and for better off-page SEO.

  • I think the most important are

    1. Linkbuilding
    2. Highly relevant Title tags
    3. Highly relevant internal linking structure

These done correctly will go a long way :-)

    • Following are also importent techniques for SEO;-

      Build a great website
      Write for the users
      Use press release wisely
Start a blog and participate with releated blogs.
  • Stop! Why does almost everyone get this wrong. On page is worth probably around 30% in Google's algorithm. Out of that a large amount is placed on:

    Title Tag
    Description Meta Tag
    Domain (name and age)
    Keyword in content

After that it is really not worth putting much more time, money, energy into on-page until you get a ton of backlinks. Links are about 70% of the algorithm. Once you have a ton of links and are starting to rank well THEN you can work on other on-page factors to drive the site higher.

BTW - Most of the search engines not longer consider ALT image tags in their algos (or they are an extremely small amount). Still a good idea to have them just in case the image is slow to load.
  • META Description doesnt count towards your overall ranking. There was a seminar by Google and I remember seeing this on YouTube. It does help with telling the user what the page is about when you fnd the results on the SERPS but Google say they dont use it for ranking!

Good advice above, just update your site with regular content and ensure hightly relevant title tags and quality bakclinks....

  • While Meta Description does not count toward ranking in Google - it will (most of the time) be used as the snippet (the text that appears below the link in the SERPs). If you do not have one then Google will pick what it thinks will be a good snippet. So you should always do a Meta Description to try to control the snippet and get more clicks.

Also, I believe (but have not been able to confirm experimentally yet) that both Yahoo and Bing still use Meta Description in determining rank.
  • On page SEO is supposed to be the easy part.

And to be honest, if your back links are good enough, it will count for 0% of your rankings.

    Just google "click here"
